JP. Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Ready for take-off. Leaving at night for the Classic Ford Show. Heading for a 550mile one way trip as we visit Aldridge trimming to. Tools & spares are packed even as all the camping gear. Still had minor issues with the carb till today but hope its sorted now. We’ll see. Blow trough carb setup is giving me headaches. Hope Calais won’t give much trouble with all those illegal’s overthere. 3
jamie956 Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 surprised you don't go Hook to Harwich Ive used that crossing a few times when driving over to Holland should put you closer to pod when you get here as well, also remember to pay your Dartford crossing toll online before hand if you come that way.
PeteRS8084 Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Good luck of the road mate........drive safe.
JP. Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 surprised you don't go Hook to Harwich Ive used that crossing a few times when driving over to Holland should put you closer to pod when you get here as well, also remember to pay your Dartford crossing toll online before hand if you come that way. Hook to Harwich was 350 quit for a return ticket. Calais Dover a 100 quit for return. Hook only sails twice a day ( one night and one on the day ) so if you miss it you have a problem. Also Hook ferry takes almost a whole day. Thanks for the Dartford crossing. Figured it out its not really tourist friendly now. Go left round London this time. Leave within 15 minuts now. See you there. Regards JP
JP. Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 Failure.......... After 200miles just around Dunkirk very bad noises came from underneath the Capri. Seems like a bearing in the driveline gave up. Not a good idea to go further we thought. So we decided to go back home in limp mode. Just arrived at home. Got the barry boy fired up and swap all the camp gear into this one. So trip gets a 400 miles longer. Sorry guys, no Mercury again this year ( again as I melted a piston with this car last year a day before take-off to CFS ) Car not washed and polished but fired up at once after months of storage. Ehh bugger two !!!!!! No ferry crossing today. Seems workers are on a 24hr strike today at Calais. Have rebooked for tomorrow but P&O was not sure ferries will sail tomorrow. They also warned for miles and miles traffic delays by trucks standing still as striking harbour personnel is blocking them. Edit found the definition of Barryboy.. Barryboys - the plural of barryboy, someone who owns a car which has been pointlessly modified for little or no performance gains, Its got triple 40's on a 3.0 Essex...Billies all around.. 75% ZF LSD Full cage.. Vented bonnet for cowl induction... Wings for down force that actually work.. genuine X Pack car.. Build in FIA Appendix J gp2 regulation So pointlessly modified..... not at all

Ohh men you wont believe the problems they have in Calais. Its realy unbelievable and can not be described. Saw it this morning at 06.00am and still can not believe what we saw. They are with so many...... Trying to get into the UK. Hundreds doing anything, taking any opertunity, and have absolutely now fear at all. Well, time for a well earned Scotch now and some BBQ. Best regards, JP, Linda, Michel & Alex. Located near Banbury. 4
