Benjy✌ Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 I know this has probably been covered a 100times, but who uses an oldskool motor as there daily? I use my mk2 every day of the year!
luckyjim Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 you may have an unfair advantage as there is very little moisture or oxygen on MARS to make your pride n joy rust...
Benjy✌ Posted August 31, 2015 Author Report Posted August 31, 2015 you may have an unfair advantage as there is very little moisture or oxygen on MARS to make your pride n joy rust... Hahahaa! my car will never be a minter, as long as I keep on top of the little bits that pop up occasionally I don't mind using it in all weathers! 1
Benjy✌ Posted August 31, 2015 Author Report Posted August 31, 2015 or very little low life to steal itI am always very careful about where I leave it! but you've gotta use your motor!
Admin Vista Posted August 31, 2015 Admin Report Posted August 31, 2015 I did for about 5 months in around 2007......................but I was paranoid every time I left it anywhere and to be honest, it isn't very town traffic friendly. 1
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted September 1, 2015 Moderator Report Posted September 1, 2015 I have used mine as my all year driver (I cant say every day as I dont need a car every single day) for almost 30 years. The service time for repairs have crept up over the years though and is now considerably longer especially if I have to wait for parts from the UK if something major breaks. I havent had many concerns about leaving it just about anywhere until recently. I think it had alot to do with reading some of the stolen car posts on here has just made me at bit paranoid. Looking for a very good and discreet immobiliser or ignition cut out of some sort just to ease some of the concerns that are creeping in, 1
Fiestajam Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I use my mk1 fez pretty much everyday to get to college and back, I do have concerns about leaving it in the car park
nosher 64 Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I try to use the Capri every day and Sharon drives it to work occasionally, unfortunately its got a nasty oil leak at the moment.. Being sorted next week.
khanlad Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I would love to use mine every day but im too tight! Daily diesel does over twice as many miles to the gallon, quite protective of all my cars, drives the mrs mad pulling into supermarket and parking away from all other cars, then why is it that some numpty parks right next to you?
Admin Vista Posted September 1, 2015 Admin Report Posted September 1, 2015 drives the mrs mad pulling into supermarket and parking away from all other cars, then why is it that some numpty parks right next to you? Don't start me on that one! EVERY mark on the side of my daily has appeared after a trip to the supermarket, the spaces are narrow but care and attention to other users wouldn't hurt would it? I've taken to taking pictures of any car I'm parked beside before entering the store. 1
The Transplanter Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Its a sad state of affairs when everyone is to paranoid to drive their OSF due to the fear of the number of scumbags about! And rightly so, but it seems to be worse in the Ford scene than and other classic scene that I have encountered Makes owning an OSF not the pleasurable experience it once was
DT36 Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I'm using mine as a daily at the moment, as I don't have a car of my own yet. Just returned back to the UK from working in Dubai and am currently looking for a job now. Therefore, I'm hanging out from buying one yet, until I know what I'm doing. RS is actually in the garage today having new rear Cossie callipers and brake lines fitted, due to the old callipers sticking/binding. Can't do the job at home as the old pipes will need cutting off due to their age. On the plus side, I got 45mins cardio in this morning walking back from the garage... 2
mk2 mike Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I've taken to taking pictures of any car I'm parked beside before entering the store. I do the same depending on what sort of cars I'm next to! 1
khanlad Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Its not just fords, its everything, tossers everywhere that think they have some sort of right to take stuff that others have saved and sacrificed for! 1
dalmarshall Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Baby seats in the back... Parking too close too cars with baby seats in the back!! @##$/ 1
Danish Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I used to drive my 4-door Mk3 Cortina every day, but over 3 or 4 years it quickly deteriorated - underbody corrosion mainly, but the paint blistered and it would have been a big job to keep it nice. I'm afraid the 'new' Cortina will be staying in its garage and going out mostly on sunny days.
dalmarshall Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 I'm lucky if I SEE mine monthly, let alone drive it! Even if I could I don't think I would. One winter would turn it to dust!
puddy Posted September 9, 2015 Report Posted September 9, 2015 Use my mk1 Tina all year round , the more the merrier ! puddy 1
NudgerSS Posted September 11, 2015 Report Posted September 11, 2015 I use mine to go to work and for blasts around but I won't use it in the winter As for scumbags nicking OSF I'm afraid the Mini scene is also rife with cars being nicked. Got a foot in both camps so get to see what a big problem it is 1
Benjy✌ Posted September 12, 2015 Author Report Posted September 12, 2015 Glad to hear a few people use there oldskool motors daily!
skeeter Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 I have used mine quite a bit over the summer, but this morning I took it back to the storage place and parked it up next to the L/C. It may come out again this year but maybe not. Back to the M5 for the daily drive, so don't go feeling sorry for me and that is no great hardship! Ken
