Hi All,

Reliving my youth and ticking another one off the bucket list... :-)

I was looking for a mk1 but then this turned up locally and over a little time I kinda fell for it.......

It has been stored for a very large portion of it's life!

I cannot seem to paste into the window, nothing happens??? was going to link some info on it.

Until I can get it working - high level spec

She is a 1979 RS2000 Custom but has gone through quite a transformation over time,

Zakspeed x pack fitted as Zakspeed feature car in "hot car" 1982

Now in full Alan Mann livery

Specified as a racing spec...

NA Phil Jones Cosworth rally spec engine 240+ bhp

Modified type 9 close ratio/quick shift box

Full FIA cage & bucket seats/harnesses

Large Willwood brakes front and cosworth rear

Fully adjustable coil overs all round

Watts linkage

Quaiffe diff

If someone cab help me with the cut and paste thing I will add some more details and pics..

In the meantime I took a quick snap in the garage

Hopefully will learn a lot from the forum and contribute what I can. Keen to get any info or feedback on my car, good bad or indifferent!

Cheers for now

Nick

As to your cut/copy and paste issue, which browser are you using? Internet Explorer tends to give problems with so,e aspects of the forum so try using google Chrome (or other alternative).

Welcome nick, great looking car.........While I was laying down on my side!

You gotta love an escort.

Unusual colour scheme for a mk2, but looks good, put some decent pics up when you can. Red and gold can work on other models too. Mk2 cortinas, mk1 escorts......oh and angle boxes!

See you down box hill next year........you can't miss mine!

Enjoy the site, and any questions just ask..........Loads of guru's on here, plus plenty in training!

Welcome to osf. When i read the title i thought ooooo, but i like that, on its side is good for first attempt, mine still go on upside down most of the time! Stupid computers, i had a phil jones built 1690 crossflow years ago, that was superb, went like hell, hope to see you out and about

Welcome to OSF Nick nice looking car. Don't let anyone on here give you any crap about the colours there great! Take it from an old hand of getting the Micky taken. It's all in good fun of course. Any problems with the FELLOW ESCORT OWNERS just drop me a line and will give you some ammo to throw back! Just have a read of some of the threads put on by Pete RS8084/Khanlad/ Leo /others and myself you will get the jist. The first one will be Escort BULLY BOYS then just goes on from there. We agll have a good laugh and feel free to join in. Colin.

Col, stop sucking up.......he owns an escort not an anglia or Tina! Nick will get on fine here, as most of us are happy and of course escort drivers. And with fine senses of humour, and remember nicks another southerner. .........and with an escort, he scores full marks.

Just thought I'd let him know what he is letting himself in for joining the mid life crisis nutter crew.dont want a newbe getting all offended now do we. As you point out he's a southerner with an escort so he gets my sympathy straight away, but with the right colours he's on my associate list.

Hi All and thanks for the warm welcome and warm warnings! :-) I don't mind a little banter so crack on with the jibes.... however the red and gold has become cool again, in the form of Iron Man don't forget

I will try and cut and paste those links and or paste some pics shortly...

Its running twin 48's for the specific induction question :-) and yes indeed does go very well although I am going to very shortly send her in to make sure the geometry is all good and the engine is all signing properly!!

Hopefully I will get to boxhill as I used to always see the meets there when I lived in Leatherhead.. are the planned meets publicised on here or by invite only?

Boxhill meets are advertised on here, a guy called mk1 keiran let's us all know when it's on, done for this year though. Advise to arrive early as it gets well busy, and your motor will gather some curious eyes! See you there next year!

I am trying to build up a history file as well as make sure the car is in the best shape possible.. She is now back on the road with a clean MOT!
Any pointers would be more than welcomed as to its history and I would value any comments and thoughts on its spec - good bad or indifferent

It sounds pretty impressive, some people love the sound of the carbs, throttle bodies are similar but more efficent? Ive got a t34 turbo stuck on the side of mine. To me, its your car do what you like or what you can depending on how deep your pockets are? If it makes you smile or laugh like a nutter youve cracked it. Get out there and put some miles on it!
