bigdaz27 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 as you don't have to display a tax disc anymore I thought it would be cool to get a replica one that would of been on the car when new, I'm a bit tight and didn't want to pay so I found a picture online and cleaned up the pixilation up with photoshop which took hours lol I think it looks cool, I'm sure I'm not the first to do this but thought I would share 1
colr6 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Think it's quite common on the classic car scene to do it, well done on the copying good move
bigdaz27 Posted February 4, 2016 Author Report Posted February 4, 2016 The site I went to wanted £7 I thought that was expensive for a bit of paper, I'm sure it would of been better quality but no ones going to notice, well apart from you lot as I told you lol
colr6 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Don't suppose anyone is going to scrutinise a tax disc, unles there is an anorak tax disc collector out there!
iandq Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 i did one just like it for my anglia, i copied a dec'61 one as my anglia was first reg'd june '61, but you could buy 4, 6 or 12 months tax back then so there is a choice of dates .
skeeter Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 I have one in my car, the wife got it for me and had it dated to replicate the original expiry of its 1st tax, ie 1 year after the cars 1st registration.
khanlad Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Looks good, you need an osf tax disc holder to finish it off? Should be on commission! Hehe
BaileyMex Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 Yep I've had one in the Mex for a few years....real one hidden behind lol Done the same Google Image search and 'borrowed'
mk2 mike Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 I've got one on mine. Bought mine though. Thought £6 was cheap! Came with the reg, year and place of first registration too.
Ray Posted February 6, 2016 Report Posted February 6, 2016 im torn as to buying one, as the car no longer has its original registration the car was bought in 2011/2 (have to pull paperwork out for the exact year) just for the purpose of removing its original plate and fitting it to a motorcycle thats the part that really annoys me, dont think it should be allowed personally, but thats life so if i fit a tax disc with the current reg no, it wont really be right what r your thoughts
bigdaz27 Posted February 6, 2016 Author Report Posted February 6, 2016 one site I looked at wanted £25 lol
HotRodMatt Posted February 7, 2016 Report Posted February 7, 2016 I think someone on ebay who does them even puts a correct Post Office stamp for the town/area. Which is a nice touch.
piekey Posted February 7, 2016 Report Posted February 7, 2016 I say ding dong.com is worth a look. Very cheap period stickers and tax disc lookalikes.
stephens_xpack Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 Cool idea, still got a few of my originals, might take some copies and see how they turn out.
