So, who watched the first of #TopGear according to Chris Evans?

Surprised no-one else has started a topic on this yet

So who watched and what do you think?

I thought Matt LeBlanc came off far better than I was expecting, whilst Chris Evans was simply irritating (as widely expected and predicted). The stunts were watchable if all too predictable and Chris's gags about catering etc? Not funny. What's with all the shouting and stupid faces too? He can't outdo Clarkson so needed to be original to pull this off. On this alone, FAIL. They couldn't even be original with the introduction for the Stig.

Difficult to know what they can do with the show that Clarkson and co haven't done before in some way. The cars being shot at? Check, Clarkson in a Porsche (I think). 4x4's to the top of a hill? Check, Clarkson in a Discovery 3. Wacky off road races? Check, didn't all three of the previous incumbents do that in the last series?

Yeah watched it and to be honest pretty disappointed, I like Chris Evans and the radio but on camera he does come across as quite annoying. Matt Le blanc was ok and can obviously drive, but what of sabina shmitt she was lacking with only about 5 mins. No gold star, improvement required.

Well i suppose it will take time to like it

I remember everyone hated richard hammond

But when he was in a coma it seemed like the whole country was behind him and couldnt wait to see him back with the other 2

I say give it time, chris evans can be annoying but whatever he does normally turns to gold

Give it time

It was OK, though Evans needs to stop shouting and they really should have started afresh instead of just a carbon copy of how it was before; some of it was cringeworthy. The Star in a Reasonably Priced Car was as uninteresting as ever, and the reactions to Ramsay's lap time was a bit odd being as there was nothing yet to compare it with! LeBlanc's Reliant having to be trailered the 200 miles to Blackpool rendered that part of the challenge pointless. (Instead of just topping up the lost coolant why not fix the fault??) Though even that debacle was more successful than his attempt at presenting.

I will still watch it next week in the hope it will improve but I'm not holding my breath!!

I like Chris Evans. If you cannot see his talent then I'm afraid we won't get on. I am however, disappointed that the BBC told him to try to emulate the previous format. Overall though - I enjoyed it and since I am the law - so should you.

I thought it was ok. I saw it different to most of the above comments. I thought Evans was the better of the two. I thought Leblanc came across as wooden and poor at reading the autocue.

Agreed that it was exactly the same format but with different voices. An oppertunity missed IMO.

So I didn't miss a thing...

Well was looking at Top Fuelers doing 3.9s for 5 days. Even saw a mk1 Escord doing 9.44 constandly.

After 5 days I have not only a Pod face but became a Pod lobster.

Didn't miss television at all.

On the subject of Car programs, the all new Americanised Wheeler Dealers isn't doing much for me either. Do Americans really need all the silly background music and 5 mins of the program repeated after every set of adverts (sorry, commercial breaks). Truck Owner from last night's episode was pretty hot though :-)

Why does Chris Evans shout all the time? It's the same run out of ideas show because it's all been done before, but with 2 different blokes instead of the normal 3. The last 2 or 3 series with Clarkson and Co were poor, this has been no different so far, but with Evans who has a face you want to punch! Same with wheeler dealers, if it's a car I'm interested in ill watch, but mike generally says the same thing, does the same thing, which to be fair is all they can do? They've tried to make it a bit different , going to the states , but there's only so much you can shake it up? Maybe run its coarse too?

I haven't yet watched it BUT my Retards Club feed last night was full of derogatory comments and no-one said anything good except Gaz! (for those of you who remember him) lol

I was disappointed with it but not surprised, I always said if Evans (whom I like on the radio) had came straight out with an all new version of the show it woul have been ok, but instead they tried to be Clarkson, Hammond and May, and was awful to watch , the audience appeared quiet, disappointed and uninterested. Chris at one point had to gee them up to cheer the star in a car,

I liked the rally course but I think it will be to much for some people and also the way it appeared laid out it puts mud on the main track,

The interviews were painful, fake and to dragged out, the stars looked uncomfortable.

I liked Matt on the show but then I am a Friends fan, he seemed good when he was doing his own piece, but uncomfortable with Chris, I'd be surprised if he does another series, he probably didn't realise what and impact the three stooges had on the show and now regrets trying to fill there shoes,

I like Sabine I think she will be the most interesting .

But that's just my opinion, I'm no Simon Cowell
