Send the balance by PayPal Gift to admin@oldskoolford.co.uk and I'll make a note on your order that I've to enter you on the list of campers to be submitted to the site.

I'll email you an updated arrival letter that contains the camping instructions..............you could camp at Powderham too.

Sounds like a good turn out 32 cars. Could we have had more?

Received payment, thanks.

Yes there's room for more. I hope the numbers will increase between now and then as the field was very expensive to book for the whole weekend and the event will run at a significant loss at present.

Oh dear, that's not good news. There is still time to gather more people. Is there anything else that can be done?

I don't mind donating some NOS bits to a raffle for the Sunday, with proceeds going towards the event costs. I also don't mind chipping in an extra £20 - so far I have only paid for the non-camping package. I feel a bit guilty because we are planning to stay elsewhere, we don't much love camping haha.

What scale of loss are we talking?

Thank you for the kind offer but no need. At present, £600 - £700 but I hope that'll reduce. It'll go ahead whatever.

Can you get back to me and let me know how many of you there are per car please?

Hi, just 1 per car, 1 may have a passenger so possibly 9 of us in total!

Sorry for the delay, not had a chance to get on here for a while.

Cheers, Mark.

Yeah, but I am worried about next time though - we need to recoup costs so it can happen again!

I don't know how Vista feels but unless we get 20 more cars camping, it won't happen again in this formate.

We had a lot of interest when we first posted the idea on the forum.

The cost of hiring the venue hasn't helped.

Still 2 months to go.

Out of intrest I checked out the lakes tour organised by the northern rs club and they have 200+ cars and sold out months ago.

Yeah, there was a lot of interest when the idea was first thrown out there months back, and it is a really good price, so can't be that putting people off. Last weekend in June probably has lots going on all over the place.

Keep putting it out there and letting people know, hopefully numbers will raise between now and then.....

Do you have to be a member here to be able to take up a camping place or could you put out the word to other classic Ford clubs?

You don't have to be a member on here no.........but it's only on sale through our shop, which you have to be a registered member to purchase from.

It's free to register on here though so I don't see that as an obstacle.

Thats a shame to hear, in my opinion things like this are the most fun you can have in a osf. I will try and spread the word although everyone I would tell is already going

A direct comparison to the Lakes Tour is difficult to make because they are in their fourth year this year I think?

Fair enough, even in the fourth year of the Moor Tour there probably won't be 200 cars but I bet we would get over 75 easy - because these things grow. At the moment there aren't even any pics to entice others in with because the inaugural event has yet to take place!

This year is the 12th Lakes Tour, I'm going and it will be my 5th on the trot. They do it a bit differently, there is a long build up to it on their forum and Fb page and then almost with no notice, the link to book a place goes live. It normally sells out in around 24 hours but this year all tickets went in an hour!! Mainly because the venue that it's been held at all these years is for sale from this summer and people seem to think it might be the last. You also have to take into account the The Cumbrian RSOC are massively into their Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts so they're never going to struggle to sell it! I wonder though, how many cars on their first year, I'll see if I can find out! The tour itself is significantly longer that you guys have done at around 100-150 miles. I'm really looking forward to Devon though and will happily spread the word, the only thing is, as somebody said further up the thread, I've already told everybody!!

Thanks for the feedback Mark.

I think we'd struggle to get anywhere close to 100 miles on Dartmoor without taking in some very tiny single track roads with limited passing places. They would be wholly unsuitable for a long convoy of cars and chaos would ensue if two cars came the other way. We did look at a couple of longer options and some of the roads just wouldn't work. I don't think we could ever cope with more than about 60 cars in convoy either.

This event is also on our FB page and closed FB group and has another 62 people marked as "interested" but interested and going aren't the same thing.
