stephens_xpack Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 Why negative responses? For what we have paid the place we are staying at looks like one of the nicest camp sites I have seen, loads for kids and adults a like. People are weird, price is fantastic, give it a try before knocking it. Think it should be a great weekend, I have even got my parents tagging along now as well as me and the kids, but they don't have an old Ford so they have just booked themselves into the regular part of the campsite..... Still I have said a lot on this thread, and I still don't have a car ready yet.....getting very close but time is flying as always.... 2
stephens_xpack Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 I've had negative response from people I know but trying to keep this thread positive. I'm thinking of making some flyers to put on cars for the Duchy Capri club show next month. Yeah, get some more Capri's going....proper cars......

OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted April 25, 2017 Author OSF Contributor Report Posted April 25, 2017 best be prepared for a stampede of bookings now.
Danish Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 We've made it into the national press http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/news/classic-car-events-calendar/ Nice.
deltamal Posted April 25, 2017 Report Posted April 25, 2017 That's a top result getting mentioned in the national press! well done that man! there is a post on the BSC site as well would be good to get some more Cortinas there!
stuartp Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 finally got round to booking - the wife is up for it but only if we go to buckfast for health giving tonic wine 3
Danish Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 Why negative responses? We used to organise outdoor events, people would say they were too expensive, the dates were badly chosen, it was too far, and on and on. What it came down to they didn't want to go for whatever reason, but preferred to rubbish it than admit any problem on their side. I'm really looking forward to this one. It's a nice distance from us - a little over two hours drive. 1
stephens_xpack Posted April 26, 2017 Report Posted April 26, 2017 Yeah I suppose, moaners are gonna moan - can't please everyone all of the time. Eventually you just have to pick a date and a venue and get on with it. June is a tricky month, a week or two before the chosen weekend and I wouldn't have been able to book, so a little lucky in that respect.
OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted April 26, 2017 Author OSF Contributor Report Posted April 26, 2017 We chose this weekend as it was the weekend with least on event wise. Also the field we are using was available. The price was based on similar events and what you got for the money. Classic ford show is £25 each ( camping and show ), classics ford run to Brighton is £60 for 2 persons. Remember this event is Family Friendly this includes Dogs. Price is per car so those with big Cortinas or Capris that's 4 persons for a weekend activity break for £70. The park has a lot to offer. We are also going to organise an evening quiz and social get together on the Saturday. Those who are intrested in Buckfast wine its 10 mins down the road. No one local drinks it though ha ha ha This isn't just a jolly around Dartmoor.
stuartp Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 Buckfast wine its 10 mins down the road. YES! is that 10 mins drive? because there's no way I'm going to Buckfast land and not partaking in some of that sweet sweet loopy juice
Admin Vista Posted April 27, 2017 Admin Report Posted April 27, 2017 Yes, Buckfast is just around the corner, there's a steam heritage railway nearby too if there are any steam enthusiasts on here.
OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted April 27, 2017 Author OSF Contributor Report Posted April 27, 2017 Don't think it's on tap there? Think its for sale as bottles in the gift shop. Vista do we need to amend the route card to end at buckfast abbey?
aardvark101 Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 Lol, Buccy n BBQ....closely followed by a fire and a fight
OSF Contributor Mexican Gerbil Posted April 27, 2017 Author OSF Contributor Report Posted April 27, 2017 Aslong as there is no reving of engines at 2am
colr6 Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 Aslong as there is no reving of engines at 2am That's a Silverstone thing, don't think it's contagious to the more mature element of ford owners.
aardvark101 Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 Or massive get you barred burnouts, thats a Boxhill thing
Saluki Posted April 27, 2017 Report Posted April 27, 2017 YES! is that 10 mins drive? because there's no way I'm going to Buckfast land and not partaking in some of that sweet sweet loopy juice Great news that you're going Stuart- been meaning to ask you about it mate.
