Firstly whoever wrote the blurb looks to be illiterate, if you are going to advertise something for that sort of money it would be an advantage to have a grounding in basic English  :dope:

Secondly, they are asking 200K for a well thrashed car that has been "Re-shelled"...... WTF

To be fair, on your first point, the car is stated as being in Norway so English probably isn't the seller's first language. On the rest of it though, I agree.

Whose to say it wasn't re-shelled by Ford ? They do have history doing that!

Thing is - if authentic - its chassis #001 there is only one and 42k isn't exactly ragged to death for a development car - 200k is about usual!

Would I pay that for it ......... No, but someone will probably get it for 150K

Is it still Number 1 if its been re-shelled though?

Technically no. But you can bet the VIN plates have been carried across. What does the body have stamped into it though?

Interesting point - when was the universal body stamped 16 character Vehicle Identification introduced - it was stamped in multiple locations such that ringing cars meant cutting out part panels and welding in 'hooky' ones - thought it was around the Sierra era?

Firstly my apologies, i didnt see the guy was in Norway, so his English is Waaaaaaay better than my Norwegien

However, when is Car No 001 not car no 001, look at the furore over the Jaguar lightweight race cars, the new ones were built to the same spec as the originals (in fact miles better)

but people  (Lord March)  still bitched about them and would not accept them as "Originals"

lord march, stuck up aristocrat. those jags were nothing but stunning! if ever i had a car that was worthy of his acceptance id tell him to stick it up his arse. most of the classics such as concourse cars have been stripped in garages and resprayed and every nut and bolt replaced. does that make them original? triggers brush comes to mind.

Number 001 or not I dont think I would get on too well with whoever buys it at that price. I just know he is wired different to me.

Take a look through PH classifieds for that kind of money you could buy one usable version of each of your favorite RS's and still have enough change to plonk down on a brand new RS focus.!

Be interesting to see if it actually goes for that money.
