colr6 Posted February 2, 2017 Report Posted February 2, 2017 As above looking for a voltage stabilizer regulator for set of mk2 rs clocks Thanks Dave Will they be the same a cortina GT? Can't see why not, both run temp and fuel. Got one of those if any good.
mk1del Posted February 2, 2017 Author Report Posted February 2, 2017 Think they are different, the rs one apparently different resistance ,and the earth bracket is angled different Will ring a auto electrician I know see if can find out if they are
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted February 3, 2017 Moderator Report Posted February 3, 2017 They are the same resistance (5v) but the one for the RS does have its mountings positioned differently so you cant interchange them. Its common practise to install a modern resistor inside the casing although some people just fit it straight on the back but it doesnt look at neat.

I know escort owners can be anoraks at times but who's going to check to see if the voltage stabiliser is in the right position, come on lads get a life! 1
khanlad Posted February 3, 2017 Report Posted February 3, 2017 It's got nothing to do with wearing coats Colin, just look at my fine example of a 1.3 popular plus?

I think its more to do with the fragile nature of the backing circuit boards on Mk2 dashes. If you insert the resistor into the old casing it pretty much screws back on as was. If you attach it to the back without doing that you have to solder it directly to the thin circuit board and often ruining it permanently. 1

May i just take this oppurtunity to ask a question om this topic. I've just bought a mint rs2000 dash to fit in my 1300l basemodel, and when you just mentioned the fragile nature of the backing circuit a light went on in my head as i through the process of eventually finding this good set stumbled across a few that had broken backing circuits. Could you please give me some more information about this modification? The process and parts needed for it? I did not know about this before. I'm ofcourse very keen on keeping this rs dash in good condition for years to come. / David

If not there's a guide in our "How To" room
Gyver Posted February 4, 2017 Report Posted February 4, 2017 Thank you, yes i did notice that recently. I will try and fit the dash in the weeks to come. /David I don't have any details of the mid you refer to but are you aware of the changes you need to make to fit your RS instruments?
