I only wanted engine bay loom at the time , £220 and it was rubbish , sent me old loom off to use original connectors as I was told they would , but they only used bulkhead plug . They drilled a hole through the middle shoved all new wires through it with spade connectors on it !!, no use to me trying to plug into original socket connector ? Every connector was their own big bullets , couldn't even get my clear plastic cover on the fuse box because of this , Complained to them ..... Got no answer !, they only wanted my money , ...... BE WARNED !!!!! I ended up soldering on all my original connectors on myself and sourcing another bulkhead plug .. So basically paid £220 for a few wires !!! . I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND AUTOSPARKS !!!! mk1alexp Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 Glad i seen this was about to part with £1800 for a bespoke loom from Autosparks. It was basically an early Mk1 escort GT loom modded to run pinto.

Why go to all that expense, the mods are minimal , starter wires if going from inertia to pre- engaged and Dynamo to alternator if it's not already been done or runs an alternator, everything else is there.

Col my wiring skills are litrally nil and by my own admission im thick! Theres alot goes right over my head. Wiring is one of them things. But i give things a go! Not always succesfully.
colr6 Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 Wiring is not one of my strong points, but I wired both my cars and a cossy engine loom. Big wiring diagram, labels and plenty of time googling things ! Once you get into it most things are easy.

Ive 3 looms on the garage floor and trying to cobble one decent one out of the 3. Miss driving the old girl and thats what spurs me on.

The main problems you have is keeping things tidy and if you want to use things like original bulkhead plugs.
Chris standage Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 Trust me i will certainly be asking questions haha, just got to get the car to my house, now that ive installed gates onto our rear yard, its been a while since ive worked on the old girl, plus lots of cutting and welding to do.

Ive got access to lots of wiring tape and copex if needed haha, ill probably still use some of the original plugs, just asses the condition of them before i re use them, if not ill fit new connectors.
