if you want genuine for originality, nos are rare and expensive when they do come up, good old ones are hard to get as well, that's regardless of inertia or static, I took a set of NOS inertia ones to £1400 one bay and still didn't win them, I was lucky, another set came up that I got for about £600, it all depends on how many people looking for them at the time, and I got a static set for £400, which again I had seen them go for more

but mk 2 inertia belts fit, they are a different shape on the roller housing, but do the job

both mk1 and mk2 inertia suffer with the grease drying out with age and the locks then don't work, trick I saw on the net, unroll and clip open, put the mechanism end in boiling water, then leave to dry, aparantly it frees them up

but as scott says, maybe better to buy securon new if your not bothered about originals

Does anyone know how to redo the black plastic coating on the centre stems because that’s what’s wrong with mine ,looks like they have been chewed by a dog

depending  on how bad the plastic covering is either put some black electrical cable  heat shrink sleeving over the top or find a company that  can repair it maybe . The only other option is to replace them with better used or nos ones if you can find them .

look for good used ones on flea bay, mk2 stems are the same, you can buy repro labels for the switch as well, but have deep pockets, I sold a nos pair of stems on flea bay 6 months ago, I got near £300 for just the stems, I had to sit down tbh, even  couldn't believe it, foreign buyers are prepared to pay and leave the English out in the cold, but if you look for more than 1 pair, that has a good one in each, you should find what you want

Picture shows Mk1 on left and my Mk2 one bolt fixing on the right, I know there are two types of Mk2 ,1 bolt and 2 bolt types ,but what I want to know is does anyone know if these long ones in my Mk1 are right or should they be shorter like the mk2

that mk1 one is far too long, compared to mine, probably off a Capri or a tranny, as they are longer, may have been installed to effectively lengthen the belt for a large person, all the mk2 ones ive had in my hands, the stalks are identical to the mk1 in every way inc shape and size, even doing an e-bay search, that's all I came up with, not seen that double affair before, I'm not saying its wrong, just ive not seen it, and cant find it on a search either

how many fixing holes does your car floor have, you can see that from under the car, so you don't have to remove the carpet to see

as far as I was aware, late mk1 and mk2 were the same floor so should be 2, one is fwd of the other, and is fairly centred, while the other is off set

Thanks for the measurements that’s good news as I have a new pair of short ones ,as for the Mk2 it only has one hole in the floor ,I have seen others with the same setup but most are two stalks I agree  ,probably Ford being tight lol

Could still do with some decent mk1 escort seatbelts  inertia or static  ,don’t need the stalks but interested in Anything.       Thanks James
