Sump, any ideas ?

Hello all, Can anyone help me with a modified steel pinto sump to enable the fitment of a 2.0 pinto into a mk2 Escort, RS2000 alloy sump and pickup pipe is to expensive for my budget, thanks

personally, I think you need to increase your budget, there's no substitute for the correct part, even if something else has to wait a little longer

That sump would be no good unless you want the engine sticking out the bonnet !! Can't see why you can't use a Capri one,

Thanks for comments, I was led to believe that both Capri and Sierra sumps will not clear the cross member, as for budget perhaps I am living in the past but £250 for an RS2000 SUMP is a lot of money

They can be manipulated to fit, as not everybody has endless supplies of cash and there ain't that many RSs been scrapped to use alloy sumps all the time.

You can buy a tin, big wing pinto sump for escort on ebay. £145. I have one on my mk2 escort and fits like a glove no problem.
