rare item in good condition, I paid a grand for a mint one, and the last reasonable one I saw on e bay was taken down to a deal off e bay very quickly, and they were the only 2 I would fit in my car, it took near 4 years to find that one and the other came along a month later, none good enough since

I’ve got the original clocks in nice condition 140 mph speedo and 8000 rpm rev counter ,

all I need is the dash top vinyl bit for any six clock car like 1300 e ,sport, Gt ,Mexico RS etc , someone must have one please

Can be expensive, but had a good few mk1 bits at RS Combe this year.

Ahhh its just the dash top you wanted. I dont know why I read it differently in my mind.

I have had my Mk2 one recovered as new but you have to be very careful to match the texture of he vinyl grain. But the practise is fairly common  place here. It may be the greater market for UV damaged dash pads though.

I looked for ages for one-ended up buying a flocked one instead (original still not a fibreglass copy)-fook paying a grand for one tho!

for a good as new original one, a grand is not out of the way, for a reasonable one not mint 500 plus, ive sold bad ones for 200 and ones with just one split for over 400

they are rocking horse droppings in good condition, and apart from that horrible flocking or buying a leather sleeve (on e bay), no one seems to be able to repair them nicely in the UK

be careful of Roy Nunn, he is a con man

seen him in the auto jumbles, peddling other peoples products at extortionate prices, claiming theyre not other peoples and his are better, when plainly they are, with a very bad attitude to boot, and the dash tops he had at the last show I saw him at were basically scrap parts

Im surprised Mk1 pads have reached such epic prices, they seem much sturdier than Mk2 ones which are always spit right open. My Twincam still has its original without a split in it which I thought was pretty good longevity. When the sun comes out full force here you can here the Mk2 pads popping a mile away.

I chatted with him at Combe this year and he did take some time with me, showing me some resto pics of an orange mk1. 

However, I did find him expensive for an embossed chassis plate, so never followed up on it.

Considering how many were made it seems  incredible there’s not some good ones kicking around might have to stick with my not so perfect one .

if there was plenty kicking around, then they would be cheaper, its the rarity of the beast that's making them expensive, and when someone does have one, they do their home work and want the earth

they are so fragile and easy to damage, they can split fitting them, I had one with a small split, I had it professionally repaired, it sat on my shelf for 3 years waiting to be fitted, and when I unwrapped it the split was back again and bigger

Need to get mine sorted before NEC. It’s not super shiny. I’ve got another one that is proper split which I was going to send to a motor bike seat restorer to see if he can fix it. Will post results as and when.
