Im glad that some have still kept with the original 2 dial gauges. I like them both in their own right on the respective cars that they came with.
Yep, I think they look OK too. I'm not one for trying to make the car something it's not, ie yet ANOTHER Mexico or RS clone. I quite like any base model car that has been hopped up but still retains some base model features or looks. Gives the car more "attitude" in my opinion.

Here's a thread on here where someone over your way made a tasteful upgrade of a two clock pod James.

There's someone else on here that made a nice job upgrading them with mk2 Cortina gauges too. Will see if I can find that.

That was an interesting build thread I hadn't seen before thanks. You dont get many Australian build threads here. As you know im very pro 4 door LOL. But I almost had a seizure and burnt the Australian flag though when I saw the first image with the big wheels but he corrected that pretty quick and the transformation was quite profound. A dark colour like that could benefit from more chrome not less but each to their own. I can see why you remember the thread though, those instruments! I have never seen gauges like that before. A four in one? Wow. I think with a different dash trim set up and chrome highlight trimming around the cluster that it would work really well. A more tradition dimmer green illumination would help too.

That looks absolutely brilliant! If I had regular gauges in a Mk1 I would do that rather than chop the dash for 6 dial ones. Perfectly matching ancillary gauges too from the same cluster Im guessing? I would put a bit of chrome paint on the indicator light squares as well.

Saved for posterity from photobucket.

ive got to admit, my pal told me about that gordon murry build. and to be honest they may be doing a great job but there videos bored the life out of me. it wouldve been finished a year ago if they stopped talking rather actually doing the car up. i watched the first 3 vids skipping through them. not watched the rest.

I'm with you on this one, although I have watched all the episodes I did skip bits. I enjoy seeing the before during and after pictures, not the before, during, during, during, during, during, during, during, during, during, during and during pictures!!! It is interesting though especially when he went to Cosworth, but boy can he go on.

Love the way they designed the bonnet release in Episode 13. I can't even get my grill to line up the same way twice so for them to match the release with the grill is excellent craftsmanship.

Maybe its the lens perspective but the steering wheel looks way larger than the same one I looked at for my Twincam

I like the Cosworth Badges they make based on original Twincam ones. They even sell them in their shop.

I cant say I like their dash vent system it looks a bit weird with so many vents like its some multi eyed creature. The controls for  everything are very well thought out.

Individual Vehicle Approval - Ministry test to ensure all parts and things used on vehicle are safe and up to standard. Correct me here (if necessary) this was a existing car, so why IVA it? It is very modified for sure but that doesn't require any checking. Interestingly what happens if is not judged a 'new car' nor sufficiently original to retain its original plate - will everyone be happy with a Q plate ! ! ! LOL!

I think it has different suspension front and rear, brakes, independent rear axle, engine, gearbox. Not sure what this adds up to on the points system, but it might have gone over 8.

Yes, definitely be interesting. 😀

There isn't much original Escort left. Even the interior and every control is gone. Its now basically something else with a basic Escort shape. I'm not sure about your points system but I don't think that car will still retain whatever plate status it once had as an original Escort as it really has been completely redesigned underneath.

I'm following this Fiesta build at the moment:

I also subscribe to Marcus Hayes. He runs a Mk2 Escort and has just about finished off doing a MK1 Escort.

Another programme on Channel 4 I watch, but you'll probably need a VPN and More4:
