Shame the weather turned so bad this afternoon.

There was a good turn out of cars  until the heavens opened up!!!!

Agreed, I only got to have a decent look around the cars on the infield before it p****d down and everyone left. Much easier to get in & out than Santa Pod and nice to have a grass area for display cars (even if I didn't get to see em!) Nice to see a few more companies with retail stands too. Some great cars there top marks to everyone who made it out 👍

Thank you all who turned up today. It was a good show until the weather happened but sadly these things cant be planned.

Speaking to Mrs Gerbil, the campsite facility's need improving as there was only one toilet block and where she was camped, it was a 10 min walk to get to it.

Also a bit dusty in places..... until it rained that is.

Excellent views of the track, great pre 94 turn out ( no ST in site ).

And we won a trophy. Might have to go again  next year 😄

If they fancy moving it east of Santa pod for next year it’d be okay by me, I’d finally bring the Escort along. Has ford fair happened yet? If not is anybody going?

Ford Fair is 4th August. Alot of people on here have lost interest with Ford Fair due to the vast numbers of RS focus and ST fiesta on show. The last year we went as a club, it was us and Classic Ford that had proper old cars on a stand and that was it.

@Vista and I travelled close to a 500 mile round trip each for this. We'd be happy if it went to castle combe :D

I went a few years back and there were quite a few older cars around although it was probably longer ago than I remember. Most shows / parts for sale seem to be at the other end of the A14 to me and I hate that stretch!

I thought for a first attempt it was pretty good. Some more loo's maybe and a good at un bumping the camping area if thats possible? When we were first shown to the spot to camp it seemed a bit on top of each other but after a few minutes you didnt even notice. You could see most of the track wherever you stood or sat and there seemed to be at least as many trade stands if not more than usuall? I think youve got to give it a chance, ill go again next year if its there.

I agree paul i must admit i did miss seeing a bit of dragracing but got to watch a bit of roundy racing instead.i did find the camping area very bumpy i am glad i run the escort 2" higher than i used to hehe, the loos were a bit far away and ran out of loo paper early on but i always take my own anyway(i will only use soft quilted for its soft cushioning and comfort for my piles haha).none of this detracted from a very enjoyable day and i will definately return.

I enjoyed it. I couldn't believe how quickly it emptied out when it started raining either. I liked the track format, it was great to see and hear all the old cars giving it some round the track.

Although I was there, what was the trophy for?

bumpin up old topic. How is the situation in the UK about quartermile racing. Dragstrips? Is it declining,? just like i know from oval racing venues. There has been more in the past. We had to close half of the few we had in Holland and nearby Germany. Due to environment politics bullshit. We had the largest oval track in Europe, closed in 1998.

I don't know about drag race venues, but there is an oval raceway very close to where I live. Run by Speedeworth, Arlington Raceway.
