I’ve been on hotmail for quite a few years and just recently suffered with huge amounts of junk emails, like 200 a day!!!!!! Tried the unsubscribe option, block sender, adjusted the settings all to no avail. Is anyone else suffering with this ?? It’s really pissing me off now, anybody any suggestions or can send these arseholes a bloody mega virus for me !

I use hotmail, as a junk throw away email address for stuff that I don't want people to have my personal email address. Registration for Free wifi login etc.

I do get junk mail to it but their filters seem to deal with it quite well and I certainly don't get 200 per day,

When I’ve gone to unsubscribe option they are all from America !! Wouldn’t mind but non of them are of any interest to me.

I remember buying something off Ebay from a French seller once and he must have sold my email details to one of those spam collection agencies and got alot of french spam after that. Its hard to unsubscribe when you cant read it to know were to click.

Someone in the USA has certainly sold your email address to a spam company. Have you purchased anything directly from the USA just before it all started flooding through?

No nothing, went a couple of years ago for the lads wedding but that it. They recon once you’ve opened an email to unsubscribe that’s it, the gates open!

I've been on Hotmail for years, I haven't had an address book on it for years ever since it got hacked and my sister-in-law got the hump because I apparently sent her emails for incontinence pants, viagra, and a "specialist" dating agency 😂😂.

No problems except the odd spam, I don't open them, just send them straight to block.

Usually, pressing "Unsubscribe" on spam email is just you telling them that "this email address exists and every email is read" - it's going to just open the floodgates for more!

That said, in my experience over the last couple of years, where my wife & in-laws were using Hotmail, the amount of spam was getting more and more.

So - I've switched them all over to Gmail - and set up a forward from their Hotmail account. Gmail's spam filtering is a million times better, and the interface is a lot nicer (and isn't changed every 5 minutes - it's changed once in the 10+ years I've been using it, but that's only been a minor styling change, not a total rewrite!
