colr6 Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 Here’s one for @Ray, is it an E or not ??? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-MK1-1300E-2-Door-1973-For-Restoration-Genuine-UK-Car-purple-No-Res/193095136418?hash=item2cf55df4a2:g:hacAAOSwJtNdd9-F
Rich T Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 I thought Es had flared front wings. Could have been replaced at some point i guess. Ive had 3 Es but not for 20+ years so no idea if its genuine. Just my 2 peneth worth lol

No Strengthened strut top either, not that I can see on n/s the o/s been plated over the top. also raise your two peneths to threpence worth 😉
stephens_xpack Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 Looking at pics of Ray's motors, they both have the flared front wheel arches, but as with all old Fords, there is bound to be a reason why this one being sold could still be genuine. No two cars a like off the production line back in the 70's....
eeb43 Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 how has it got that reg number on it?

notenoughtime Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 Registration is weird and doesn’t sit right with me not all E’s had strengthening Plates as people think wings may have been replaced many years ago when Flared wings weren’t available lets see what it makes 😂 £8700 already
e501 Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 Had a 1300 gt 35 odd years ago, had non flared wings, normal strut tops and black rear panel.. (oh and absolutely no rust)

colr6 Posted September 12, 2019 Author Report Posted September 12, 2019 I was led to believe 13Es were type 49 shells ? The reg, you can’t put a later reg on an old car private plate or not. I’ve never known flared front wings ‘not’ to be available.

notenoughtime Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 Not all E’s where built at Aveley either the one I had in the workshop recently didn’t have any strengthening panels either I’m sure I have the chassis number on my phone I’ll check where it was built
accord83 Posted September 12, 2019 Report Posted September 12, 2019 I thought E's used Sport type shells, and were not type 49's.
