These have been on for ages, I spoke to RWL over these and apparently they are fitted to London taxis ! Never an option on a RS 🤫 jumping on the RS bandwagon inc the tax ....lol

I had heard they were off taxis!!! I have asked the seller twice now for some pictures of the ford part numbers that are stamped on them cus i dont want to waste my money on fake ones . Will let you know how i get on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Anyone sourced a new, decent fitting passenger side mirror?  Not the lopsided MK1 Fiesta version.

Alternatively, who's stripped one down to get at the socket ball inside?  Mines slacker than katie Price's man-cave.

they probably do have ford part number. as a lot of the old black cabs were made up from a lot of ford parts.  the later black cabs upto N reg had these mirrors fitted as standard. google for images. we used to use these mirrors in the late 90s when black cabs were in scrapyards and with nothing like forums, not everybody knew of them! the later squarer black cabs used even more parts from the ford bin, such as 2.5 di tranny engines, cortina mk5 headlights and escort cabby rear lights.

the first 2 are the ones fitted with the mirrors. the later 2 are the ford parts bin taxis. the front actually looks like mk2 granny and not mk5 cortina. been a while since i've looked at one.

Yeah but no but yeah but no - electric mirrors? Remote possibly yes as i've got remote LH and RH genuine Ford but leccy mirrors were like Mk4 Escort maybe onwards?

Electronic ign wasn’t on the option list, so leccy mirrors a definite NO!

How do they strip? 

I got my fingers into the plastic outer trim around the glass, but didn't want to pull it too hard incase it snapped. 

Does this just pop off with a bit of effort?

The outer trim is not just on the outside but forms a whole bowl like the headlight bowl that cups a headlight. I pulled the unit apart and that trim/bowl stayed attached. The internals themselves when I tried to pull the glass away from its metal backing it was glass itself that snapped. Mine are remote both sides though. Non remotes may be different.

ford did electric mirrors as an option on the mk2 but hens teeth come to mind 

London taxi are the same but the pedestal is different . so no good

if you can find a set off a scimitar ss they are identical to the remote ones and are a straight swap
