Johnny Boy Posted August 25, 2021 Report Posted August 25, 2021 (edited) Can anyone ID this steering wheel, what is it off, and will it fit my 1979 SA 1600 sport MK2 Escort ? Is it missing a cover over the corrigated bit ? Thanks Johnny Edited August 25, 2021 by Johnny Boy

Miniliteman Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 First part of partno is 75AB; 75 is modelyear, A is Escort, B is Britain sourced part (AG is Escort Germany). Spline of Mk2 steering is bigger than Mk1, don't have the measurements at hand but my finger goes in a Mk2 steering wheel not in a Mk1 steering wheel. And yes there should be a cover over the rimply bit. 1 1
Miniliteman Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 PS: but if this fits a SA Mk2 I do not know.
katana Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 Don't know this for sure, but I'm pretty sure the corrugations only number 3 or 4 on my RS wheel. Having the extra in a capri probably helped but in an Escort it could make the already 'strange' pedal / steering wheel arrangement even more peculiar, and put it in your lap!
Johnny Boy Posted August 27, 2021 Author Report Posted August 27, 2021 Great thanks for all your helps😃 I was hoping it was a MK2 escort one, and also hope it fits my MK2 SA 1600 sport. I had read, as you say , that the Capri and mk 1 Escort were the same spline size , but the MK2 Escort size was slightly different. Conformation on the part numbers for a MK2 Escort one is good news.🛠️
Johnny Boy Posted August 27, 2021 Author Report Posted August 27, 2021 Now I need the cover for the wiggly bits. That's not going to be an easy find🙄
