mk1rallycar Posted December 30, 2021 Report Posted December 30, 2021 Mk2 Escort 4 door wanted up to about £8000. I don't mind a bit of a project but prefer something on the road that doesn't need lots of welding! There's a few around at the moment but always seem miles away from me in South West England! PM me if you're thinking of selling. Thanks
mk1rallycar Posted December 31, 2021 Author Report Posted December 31, 2021 Cornwall is no problem as I'm in Devon. Please message me the details. Thanks
mk1rallycar Posted December 31, 2021 Author Report Posted December 31, 2021 Sorry, yes I've messaged about that one last night but not sure if it's still available 1

mk1rallycar Posted January 14, 2022 Author Report Posted January 14, 2022 I was hoping to spend up to around 8k but it all depends on the spec of the car really. Please feel free to send me details if you know of anything for sale?
caprimk1v4 Posted June 12, 2022 Report Posted June 12, 2022 So very strange, when I was looking for a Escort MK2, they all seemed to be in the South when I was in the North, I ended up buying a 1979 Escort MK2 1600 Ghia with under 5k miles from Budleigh Salterton, so prob not very far from you at all, car has been on stands since I bought it in 1992, and has done about 11 more miles from the day I picked it up, if I was to sell today, I guess I would be asking about £25k ish, it still has the Ford plastic covers on the rear seat, oh how time has changed.
Moderator Rally Pack 2000 Posted June 13, 2022 Moderator Report Posted June 13, 2022 While my 4 door bias is well known, I think the price comparisons with 2 doors is about to equalise more. Four doors just haven't been preserved in as greater numbers and at a rough estimate two door cars out number them in Escorts something like 3 to 1 (based on what you see on display at shows). When that rarity value kicks in the huge price disparity will come closer together. Locally the issue with rescuing four doors is that last time I checked there haven't been replacement rear quarters. This is particularly exacerbated by the fact that on Australian cars in particular its the most susceptible rust spot. The C pillar rot often becoming so serious that they fail our MOT equivalent so they were just scrapped whereas two doors cars had multiple rear quarter sources added that most restorers prefer two door cars if they are going to go to all that trouble. So restoration of 4 doors languish still and now becoming rarer on the classic market. Its sort of like the situation with Mk1s there are more RS models on the road than original non modified base models.
