What started out as a birthday weekend away for me and the wife 2 years ago quickly all went to pot back in March 2020. Fast forward to April 2022 and my plus 1 had become plus 2, so the wife stayed at home.

2 days before the event, I gave Top Banana a full service, checked her over and packed an over night bag. The day before, I picked up my dad and we left Devon for the 250 mile trip up north.

We stayed over night in Banbury, my dad retold a nursery ryhme (which I'd never heard of nor remember) about a lady on a horse......? Anyway, we stopped to take a photo of Top Banana next to said lady on horse at Banbury Cross.

The Day of the show. After breakfast we drove 20 mins North to Gaydon and the British Motor Museum. I had booked on a club stand with our friends at AVO club. Parked on the front row next to some very nice Aveley Machines.

The weather wasn't the best but 17 cars turned up for the club stand. Various other clubs were in attendance to represent the cars that took part in the World Cup Rally. Cars from the rally itself and other rally cars were dotted around outside the museum. Including the winner FEV 1H.

Inside the museum were trade stands from the historic marathon rally group and memorabilia.

After a cup of tea and some time to warm up, we wondered around the museum.

The museum houses a large collection of Land rovers and Jaguars with other British made cars such as Vauxhall (yuk),  Austin and Leyland, a few old skool fords were also spotted. A few celebrity cars including the super van from Only Fools and Horses and a delorean from Back to the Future, were also housed inside.

We left around 2pm as I had to get dad back to Devon to catch a flight to Poland that evening. Top Banana stopped next to FEV 1H as we left the show as who knows if they will ever meet again.

Got home around 7pm without hiccups and she never missed a beat. I took loads of photos but here are some of the highlights.

Great pics, thanks for making the long trip. The red RS1600 you were parked next to has a very interesting history, it was the 'Mexico' in the original 'we brought it back' ads.

I did wonder why it had all that memorable, I should read more instead of just looking at pictures 🙈
