Hi guys, I live in the states and recently bought 2 1980 Fiestas. 1 is an S trim and the other a Ghia. I got plans to turn the Ghia into a modern, relatively budget rally car using the drivetrain out of a 2007 Focus. Duratec 2.3L (maybe turbo)

As for the S, I got bigger plans. A street/track oriented build using the drivetrain out of a 2017-ish Focus RS. I know this is ambitious, but I think I can get it done by doing something closer to just a body swap.

During these builds I'm gonna have a ton of qquestions. I'll have a Topic/Thread dedicated to each of them. If y'all got any ideas or suggestions I'd love to hear it! Had this idea for quite a few years and just got my hands on some good bodies. I'll get started here pretty soon. Already got the floor and engine mounted mostly in the Ghia.

Welcome to the site!

Be interesting to see the builds, are there any restrictions on what you are allowed to do to them apart from what you have already mentioned?

couple of nice cars there.

Do you have to keep those bumpers or can you change them?

Thanks, Graham! I'm currently undecided on the bumpers specifically. Definitely gonna do some rally flares for the orange one. And I was looking at maybe doing the X Pack for the blue one. Or custom. We will see.

What do you mean restrictions on what's allowed?

In the UK we used to be quite liberal on what was permitted in terms of car modifications and upgrades, in continental Europe it was a bit tighter. The rules are being tightened in the UK too now though.

Yep, what Vista said, I'd heard that some states in the US are really hot on what modifications you are allowed to do to a car for road use.

@BaileyMex

Luckily here in Michigan we have very little restrictions in terms of being street legal. I think all it needs is headlights, tail lights, turn signals, seat belt/harness and DoT approved tires. Maybe I'm forgetting something. I will check before I get them registered.

The blue one just blew up today so I guess I have an excuse to get working on that one soon. I'll start posting on a new thread for each project if you wanna follow. I will be asking for a lot of advice.

RIP Taco Fiesta Engine.
