This year’s NEC classic car show hopefully will be a tad more appealing to everyone, some of you will know that I’m now involved with 2 stands at the show, Old Skool Ford and the Ford Escort 1300E owners Club. So, this is written in a way I can post it to both clubs.

We have what we feel is a nice line up of cars this year an are situated in the corner of Hall 8. Both stands are effectively next to each other, stand numbers for those interested are 8-070 & 8-090, the line up is as follows.

Old Skool Ford stand:

1)        Sean Forde’s original unrestored Mk1 Mexico

2)        Dean Southward’s fabulous Twin Cam Replica

3)        Chris Martins Mk1 Escort Zetec Van

4)        Mark Scott’s Vista Orange Mk1 Escort Estate

5)        Ian Campbell’s Mk1 Cortina Project

1300E owners club stand comprises of one of each of the 4 types of 1300E:

1)        Ray Coley’s ultra low mileage pre-launch build series 1 car

2)        Harry Wrights early series 2 Miami blue car

3)        Paul Bethel’s late series 2 (facelift) car in stunning onyx green

4)        Gareth Bowens late 4 door car in Purple velvet

Well that’s the lineup of the 2 stands, and this year celebrates the following birthday/anniversaries

1)        20 years of Old Skool Ford

2)        40 years of the classic car show at the NEC

3)        50 years of the last production year of the 1300E

4)        50 years of the closure of the AVO Plant

If you’ve not been to the Classic car show for some time, then this should be your year to come along as there promises to be lots of celebrations going on. Come and give us your support.

To mark the occasions, Mark Scott, AKA Vista estate, has involved Retro Ford Magazine to cover the cars of both stands during the lead up to the event and the stands at the event, this will all go out on the Retro Ford Retards Club page (make sure you follow it and comment) leading up to the show, and during the show. After the event Retro Ford will be doing a Magazine Feature.

Additionally, Evoke Classics will be running a parallel feed through their site with the well-known Sarah Crabtree adding her wit and Yorkshire wisdom.

Thanks for the mention. Very honoured. Its just a shame Retards Club had killed off the show scene. Ive tried to be flexible with what we have on the stands and on the tour date wise (90s fords), but a new RS focus ( which wasnt booked and was for sale) really pissed me off at our last show at Powderham Castle. Next year will probably be the last, as the organisers are retiring and need new members to take over.

Sadly castle Combe binned off thier Ford only event which seemed to be popular. Every where else is just too far for me to organise show stands. 

I will try and come up and say hello again at the NEC. But as for static show stands. Think our NEC will be the only one in the future.

I was trying to get onto Dorset Steam fair but it always clashed with a Beer festival I help run.....now its gone probably forever. Might look into it but need atleast 10 cars for stand. I think we had 5 on Sunday at Powderham after matey took his 4 cars off. Not worth the hassle.....
