Nige65 Posted July 16, 2025 Report Posted July 16, 2025 If like me you grew up in the 70’s and were hooked on the latest craze of skateboarding, here is my Marco Polo Major, purchased for me by my gran for £25 in 1978, my dad was fuming at the money spent but I was a very happy 13 year old. Clock the length, 2ft, very short in comparison to the modern day boards! 2
Johnny Boy Posted July 16, 2025 Report Posted July 16, 2025 When I get in the shed , I'll take some pictures of my original 70's skate boards 1
katana Posted July 16, 2025 Report Posted July 16, 2025 I recently rebuilt my Peralta deck - new trucks & Bones wheels but at 63 I'm not as brave as I was at 15 / 16 years old - a 4' high half pipe is scary! LOLs 2

Nige65 Posted July 16, 2025 Author Report Posted July 16, 2025 My first board was a wooden thing with black roller skate wheels, how we enjoyed injuring ourselves and laughing at each other with blood pouring from our knees and elbows, the belly buster or coffin position was our favourite 😁 1

BIG G Posted July 22, 2025 Report Posted July 22, 2025 I have a Newporter and a Five Aside slalom board that were my late dad's, he used to skate a halfpipe in our garden in the 70s, #cooldad. I'll get some pics up as they're hung in my workshop.
