Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 2, 2006 Author Report Posted October 2, 2006 Thank you for all your comments. For those of you that have asked about mods etc. I said to myself when I got her, "I have to be a good lad, and leave her alone" Erm, well, I am having ideas of loosing the grey around the window frames and just having a grey roof. I am still undecided about that at the mo, what do you think??? As for wheels, I am on the look out for Lotus steels, but I am unsure about lowering it. I may do when I am a bit richer, but at the mo, she will have to stay the same height. Engine wise, I may just warm up the little 997 lump. I don't really want to do anything drastic. Finally, the body. I will be sorting the dents out next year, I have a new drivers side wing trim (thanks to 105e Steve for that) I have noticed, I need a passenger one as well, so I am on the look out for that. Oh, and I will be getting the 2 rear lamp surrounds re-chromed sometime soon as these are the only 2 bits of chrome that have been badly pitted. I also want to get some clip on door mirrors so I can see any retards behind me & I will be leaving the interior as it is, but may make a nice carpet for it with a bit of sound insulation. Basically, I just want some usfull/tastfull mods, nothing too over the top!
DeuceCoupe Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 lurve the car where's the stickers m8

MattJ Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 I would keep it standard apart from a slight drop and Lotus Steels. It would look smashing then.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted April 12, 2008 Author Report Posted April 12, 2008 Well, things have changed a little since it's first MoT after being dragged out of a 20 year hibernation, so I thought I would bring this thread back from the depths of the OSF vault. Soon after the pic's were taken, I got hold of some Lotus Cortina Steel wheels, but these weren't the wheels I had in mind. So after a year searching, I finally found a set of Mk1 Escort Mexico steels Next job was the engine. The original 997cc was a bit pony to say the least... it was harsh and noisey. So after a spell of being 1200 powered (thanks to a mate with a spare engine), I finally got my new engine built and fitted. It is now powered by a 1300 pre crossflow bored out to 1380cc, A2 camshaft, Ashley 4 branch manifold with home made 1.75 inch exhaust system, modified distributor with no vac (courtesy of Fiesta Steve) and a nice 60's mod... twin Stromberg CD150 carburettors. To fit this engine, I had to dump the 997 gearbox and replace it with one from a 1200, and also fitted a 1200 prop. I have also fitted 1200 front drums to make stopping just a tad better Next jobs will include : Gear set transplant (top secret ), a degree of lowering, and sort the dents out. Here are a few up to date pic's. Hope you like
