I have had both pinto 1.6 and 2ltr and then had 2.8 injections, I think 2.8i is better on fuel and also more power and power steering.I am selling mine as my anglia is nearly done (will have another one day)

Mate, I am well amazed at fuel consumption.

I bought mine just over a year ago & went up to Preston to pick her up. My first thought when leaving for London was: How many tankfulls will I need????

I filled her up, about £45.00, did 267 miles back to London and only used HALF A TANK

Seriously, it is the most economical car I have owned, it is even better on fuel than my 1.4 Orion that I owned before it. Go and get one mate, you wont be dissapointed :D:D:D

Wish mine was this good. It's okay on a run but short journeys are a killer. I've also got a 98 escort with a 1.8 zetec and the difference is insane. Never had a pinto Capri tho so i can't realy say what the difference would be. I guess I am a bit heavey on the go pedal in the Capri.

I travell about 420 miles a week, I go through about £65-£70 fuel.

I have no idea what that equates to mpg wise, But in its defense its never run right since I had the car and the cam has just been replaced as it was completely fooked :?

i dont get much more than 20 mpg out of my 2.8

i think its running about right, but at least half of my journeys are 7 ish mile trips to work, along back roads.. where i cane the nuts off it :D well most days anyway

its gotta be better if you were doing longer trips or more steady speeds

Yeah, as this man said, if you are sensible with it, or use it for long runs etc. you will see some decent figures. If you are bouncing off the rev limiter most days, it does like to lick some juice :lol:

I have a rule for fuel consumption, and it equates to 10p a mile. If I was to put a fiver in the tank, I would like to see 50 miles, a tenner and it would be 100 miles etc. Mine did 267 miles on £22.50 which is bloody good. My Orion I owned previously on a run up to Hull, which was just over 400 miles I think, did £55.00

from a full tank to the top of the red around town i get about 220 miles and a on a run at 75 80 it will do about 320 to a tank.

mine has got a KnN pannel filter and a full ashley system.

mines a 5 speed as well not sure if the 4 speed is any different.
