You'd think after all the hard work of fitting the YB they'd sort the rusty slam panel, and bulkhead. Not to mention the tin-worm riddled N/S door and bog-laiden interior.

I have no doubt the car is quick and a complete hoot to drive. But don't be ashamed lads, show it with warts 'n' all because it just looks so much worse if you paint over the rot.

i havent seen that,

but it does seem a trend to feature any car with a good engine, even if its crusty.

and thats all i have to say before i get accused of slating other cars again

I love that motor , it's the bollox and well worth a feature anyday . It's got attitude and great performance , looks spot on and a few bits of rust doesn't matter at all :ykt:

Ive just wet my pants after that video.

I was actually talking to a friend before about the condition of cars. And we both agreed that a car should not be perfect. Of course i understand the concourse fiends, but each to their own. I prefer a car with a bit of rust here and there. The paints not quite perfect? so what? At the end of the day it adds character. It makes the car mean more to you and the people who know it when you know of its little foibles instead of being 'just another show car'.

No offence to those who are into shiny cars and all, they are great to look at.

Bloody hell!!! I cant beleive some people!

So, because of a little rust some people dont think it's worthy of a feature!

Personally when i saw the crusty bits on tango it made my day! It meant to get a mag feature you dont need to spend $1000's on a body resto even before you install the engine etc! A car with a lot of character and a point of difference is all that should matter for a feature car and well done for retro ford for doing just that.

just a note. there was no rust scabs on the car in that vid clip as the car was pretty much just finished and running the atmo cossy in [ my way ] :) on the loud peddle if it popped me do it again. but still going some years later. bring on the rat

I almost lost interest in my Mk1 a few years ago, due to many reasons, mostly not being allowed it at home on the driveway to work on, but also it has a few dings and dents, and at the time prior to OSF all there was to go on was Classic Ford, who had a nasty habit of featuring all cars that had all been bare metalled and oven baked or 30k rally cars, it made me wonder if what I' been doing was good enough and would I be proud to be seen in it at the end? Well, thankfully now the whole scene thanks to OSF is much closer together and people appreciate things just for what they are. At the end of the day you're either going to build a show queen or something to be used hard, if I were to build my mk1 up properly then I'd end up replacing every panel on it just for the sake of it, which defeats the object - its meant to be fun and affordable. I will have the roof re-skinned and the inner wings replaced and get it painted proprly one day but for the time being its not exactly shabby and will be great for a laugh.

I first saw the Orange RS in Performance Ford years back, its the only time I bought the mag and it was because of that car - as it just sits so right, everything about it is 'right' and it just looks a right tool to hoon around in. So what if its got a few battle scars? It just means that its a real car and gets used as its supposed to, I'd prefer that over some coveted old museum piece that you're too afraid to use in the rain at the end of the day.

Does anyone remember the Ferguson 4x4 Mk3 capri in Clasic Ford? It looked bloody immacuilate, not a scratch or dent on it. yet the underside shot with the transmission on display showed a fooken great hole in the floorpan! As my brother said, would you rather something that isn't quite perfect but solid on the outside, or something that looks perfect but is a patchwork quilt underneath?
