  1. Yikes! It goes all hearse at the back with a valentine heart interior? Thats just creepy!
  2. That was actually the brand I was going to switch too as I use a number of their other products, oil and engine flush that sort of thing but there is one product from there line they dont bring in to Australia! Yep Led Replacement additive! LOL
  3. The seats look similar to one of the SA fabric colours but they never did brown dashes and consoles even when they did brown door trims they stuck with black dashes consoles and pads. They used Sport embossed logo on the trim on the passenger side and around the heater controls UK and SA cars used the same decal.
  4. Valvemaster plus is the one with an octane boosting additive isnt it? Is there really much of a boost in the time ratios you mix with fuel? It does seem to get good reviews. When we switched to unleaded fuel we briefly had a Lead Replacement Petrol and they specified which engines had hardened seats and which would suffer valve seat recession. 1.3 and 1.6 Kent engines Escorts didnt need to use it while Pinto engines definitely did. When they abolished the Lead Replacement Petrol you were advised to start using the additive, which I always have. It was an every day car then but the car still has the original head and camshaft it came out of the factory with in 1979. In Pinto terms thats pretty good. So I cant see myself quitting using the product which I think has helped extend the life of my head over the years. But just the brand I always used has given up production and need to switch to another equally as good. Hence my question on finding a good one.
  5. Do any of you guys you lead replacement additives of have you all modified valve seats so as not to have to use them? If you still use them what brands do you use? There are many names on some of the European ones I have seen which all seem to use the same bottle so wondering if they are the same just rebranded Like Valvemaster and Motorex? The Australian made one I have been using for years has been discontinued like many products I used from the same company after the takeover of Fuchs in America.
  6. And here I have been complaining about paying the equivalent of 1.20 Euros for our V-Power 98! I didnt think it was possible to tax and excise fuel any higher than us but they seem to over there!
  7. He's skilled.
  8. I dont know if you have the same disastrous tyre supply cabals that we have but if a tyre is not able to be sourced through there one and only kickback supplier it doesn’t exist. Ive seen the bold face lie to me claiming that if they cant get it no one can only to get a quote from another seller a few doors up. Keep pressing on you will find something.
  9. Newspaper Article about this. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-14932367/Ford-Escort-MkII-RS-1800-owned-family-50-years-sells-record-price.html?ico=mol_desktop_home
  10. Trouble is here in Australia neither of those companies even sell a 13in tyre. I put some unbranded Chinese tyres on mums Camry once called AN 600s. They stuck to the road out front of the house during the summer and we referred to them as "Am Goo" after that! 😃
  11. Oh Dunlop Sport Classics! I want to try them more than any other tyre! I just cant get anyone local who sells them! Are they really good?
  12. I cant say I have ever been overly fond of Chinese tyres of any sort. They seem to lack any longevity in their rubber products in general. What put me off them years ago was reviews of Falken 912 tyres that used to get favourable reviews when made in Japan then the company shifted manufacturing to China and the bad reviews and failures flooded the net. Even with their own manufacturing machinery the Chinese found a way to cheapen the product and cause issues. Once they get manufacturing established there they wind back the quality control and the companies cant find a way back even with Trumps tariffs. I know too well its hard finding that size as thats what I have used for 40 years it just takes a little digging. The Nankangs are the ones every tyre dealer throws at me first and get stroppy with me when I say no Chinese stuff. Im guessing thats where most profit is to be found. Last I checked there was some decent road Yokohamas. My Falkens were made in Japan but now made in Thailand but haven’t heard the quality decreasing on them. I know they seem like a good price but look around some more for better safety.
  13. Yes I will take 5 of each of first four sale lines thanks. (Full list price too I wont haggle)
  14. I didnt know P100s were made in Sierra style fronts too?
  15. 10% increase in efficiency would definitely bring me much closer to warranting the costs of our V-Power 98 for example. They used to say that premium unleaded costs 15 cents more per litre to manufacture but at the pump its at leats 30 cents to 45 cents more expensive so fuel companies do seem to price gouge on the better quality fuels. I just used to think the Focus had a small tank being an imported car and not quite big enough for our longer journeys but that tank of 98 just seems to get me well past the usual weekly top up well into the second week. That prompted me to start this thread if it was my imagination or not?
  16. Im not sure on the variation of fuels offered in the UK but we have various offerings here with and without Ethanol added. The Mk2 Escort uses an Ethanol free Premium 98 octane fuel. (Interestingly the factory manual stipulates a 100 Octane British 5 Star for the Twincam but we never ever had that fuel ever short of an airfield!) But for the runaround cars like my Mk2 Focus with a 2lt Duratech engine I have generally put in the cheapest fuel available with a 94 Octane fuel that contains 10% Ethanol. The car seems to run ok on it but nothing outstanding. Recently the price of fuel dropped so much that I thought I would put the 98 Octane Ethanol free fuel in it with a bottle of injector cleaner just to flush the fuel system out. It ran notable smoother at idle an town driving. I put that down to the injector cleaner doing its job but the moment I switched back to the E10 94 that slight roughness came back. Again its not hard and not misfiring or anything, just best described as a hesitancy. Also you can never be 100% sure on these things but the tank of 98 without Ethanol seem to last notable longer. I have heard the fuel company pitch that you get better economy on the premium fuel but never truly believed it. With the premium 98 fuel being 30 cents a litre more your fuel economy would have to be 15 to 20% more to justify the price. So do you see the same situation there? Do you balance difference fuels between your every day car and your classics?
  17. Expensive but nice to know you can get a replacement for that ratio.
  18. Welcome to the forum.
  19. Well deserved win. Didnt know what you looked like till now! Hope you didnt catch PBD? (Plastic Bumper Disease)
  20. I think I would ruin the stand if I attended! All day it would be "What the hell is that and why does it have 4 doors?" 🤣
  21. Its virtually impossible to say for sure. You used to see Escorts, Rotaries and Holden Gemini's in equal numbers but slowly there has been a decline in Escorts and Geminis appearing at events with Escorts being the least seen nowadays. Interestingly is that the RS factor seems to have saved them more. I see more RS2000s than any other Escort at shows and events and Escort enthusiasts I speak too. Apart from one Twincam owner all the local Escort owner friends I have are all with RS2000s. So the RS logo seems to be an incentive to preserve them over all other models. All the Mk1s I see now very few have original engines in them often V8s. I have heard a figure bandied about regarding Twincam numbers. Its said there were about 80 left in the UK and about 120 here making a worldwide total of around 200. That was over a decade ago though so some may have died and even more resurrected since then.
  22. May pay to amend the title so people know what car you were wanting it for. They may not have seen other posts talking about the car elsewhere.
  23. How many Escorts in total or something specific?
  24. It was more a way to add a bigger tank and the best place was under the boot floor with the filler behind the number plate that folds down. Benefits are that its longer range of course but also lowers the centre of gravity and also centres the weight as well (not all in one wing). It creates a very large boot space and the tank itself prevents the boot floor from rusting out. The strange part is that Ford Australia had to make its own rear panels to allow it but they didn’t bother to make solid right hand rear guards to remove the fuel filler hole. They just got the panels from the UK and Germany still so they simply made a plug for the hole! Escorts made from 1977 onwards with the large tank got this plug and they added a little decal to go across the middle that you can still buy on Ebay. Rally Packs however didn’t get the decal in their plugs because it already had Escort written in big letters in its side strips so it would have looked sill with big Escort and Little Escort written on the right side. RS2000s though got the decal
  25. Yay go 4 doors! She needs a bit of work though, Interior trashed as usual with age and elements. Only @anglia58 will be able to find trims for that one! Still has its big tank which is good to see but for some reason UK buyers always replace them with the traditional smaller side tank. But its not all original as it may appear. That air filter assembly in certainly from an Australian Escort but not an RS2000. Later 2lt Engined Escorts had metal air filter assemblies. That one is off a 1977 or 78 Car. Am I officially an anorak for spotting that? 🤔
