  1. the ind est I'm on, has 7 garage/mech services, cheapest starts at £60 per hour, but only 3 have MOT capability, and MOTs are just £30, dealers we have at least 7 within less than 1/2 mile, all way over £125an hour, but again, they do an mot for £30 must be an area cost of living thing, renting ind units is expensive here, but mot price must just be down to sheer competition
  2. at the hourly rates of garages and mechanics these days, local garages are starting at £60 an hour, and dealers way over the £100 an hour, the MOT is probably the cheapest safety check youll get, certainly in Sarfend anyway, as the very same garages and dealers are doing an MOT for £30

so what colour is it declared as on the V5 lol
  4. would be good if you could, pls RP
  5. The jack is very long, so dosnt sit in the wheel, even if it did, the strap would then have to be twice the length it is now jack just sits in a bag in tbe boot on 13 inch wheel models i think
  6. as you all seem to like a quiz, I'm throwing this one open to the people here, but I suspect itll be more for the elders tbh, and no, I don't know the answer, that's why I'm asking mk1 escort, my spare wheel straps keep snapping, where they are too much of a stretch, ive found 3 lengths of them, and all too short, the longer fits, but a week later snaps, and they are getting hard to get in good condition, as well as expensive, this is for the 13 inch wheel that sits at an angle and is the late shell, the lower bracket sits as per picture 1, I'm connecting this with the large end at the top and the buckle style end art the bottom connected to the bracket in picture 1 pic 1 pic 2 looking at the hand book, and also the 900 mile barn find video of the 1300XL (that had 12 inch wheels, so the spare sat upright), the strap goes into the wheel well and back out through the buckle, making it adjustable, but neither show what type of different bracket is part of the wheel well if any, or what is on the end of the strap if anything now cannibalising a broken strap, I can do this as in pic 3, this will ease the tension slightly and make an adjustable buckle, but I know its probably not correct I'm waiting for the "who cares" why are you bothered" etc etc, but its something I would like to get to the bottom of and make correct the strap was missing on my other car, so cant check that, and every strap you see its just as pic 2, so why have a buckle if not needed, so I'm looking for you to search deep in your memory banks, or if any of you have an original un messed with one, a photo would be most helpful

  20. you would need to make a nice hole in the rad to use the starting handle as far as I'm aware, the hole was there on some cars and not on others, a random thing, Haynes manual shows a 1300 sport with it, and I think AVO cars had it as stage 1 do a blanking grommet, but that grommet I know dosnt fit, if its a pattern panel, unless the swage is ground off the clue is, look at the van bumper, the van bumper had a hole in it that marries with that hole for cranking handle, the rad also had a drain plug, but not sure if the rad was a different height probably just one of those useless things carried over and not used Colins an old git, he should remember
  21. i think that if you parked a car sideways across the front (outside) you would be advertising you had something worth stealing tbh
