  1. there is dare i say it a $%$# vauxhall metalic silver that is really close to the colour ford painted most of there allys i have got a tin of it in my workshop but i cant remember what the colour is called. i can have a look tomorrow night if i go there
  2. can you make a cage for a tin top capri? as i sold the one i had as it was out of a 2.8i which like most capris has a tilt & slide sunroof. I want a cage that sits snugly up to the roof.
  3. got 2 mk2 corty estates lying in my barn buried under loads of old tat may be tempted to get rid of for the right price
  4. very nice mate! loads better than that old transit
  5. thought i would give my yellow capri a bit of a freshen up, it was either that or stick it in the shed for a bit in shame took out the blacked out windows, 2.8i recaros & grey trim etc Scotchbrited it all over and gave it another couple of coats of 2pack standox primer, then put some satin black on the bonnet, wingtops, window surrounds & rear panel. kinda RS2600 stylee! i think it looks better myself but i know not everyone likes the rat look. dug out some 30S fishnets & black dash/doorcards, carpet etc so it should seem a bit different now as it was looking really tired and embarrasing to drive around in. there's the rat look and totaly neglected look
  6. the 2.8 V6 cologne 5 speed gearbox was as vista said a type 9 as fitted also to the mk2 granny 2.8s & XR4i's almost the same as the pinto type 9 5 speed (which will fit a xflow) as vista says longer input shaft plus bellhousing bolt pattern completely different. best advice i would give is sell it on again and buy a pinto 5 speed type 9 your box is worth more so you should make on the deal if you stand your box on its end it should not sit flat as the input shaft is poking out the end. A pinto one will sit flat as the shaft is shorter
  7. they bolt in behind the parcel shelf supports. if the car has never had rear belts you will need to cut holes in the supports if you turns them upside down you can see the pre cut markings, plus you need to drill 2 holes in the the bootliners for the bolt and stabiliser bar.
  8. the red one is a better car so we are going to stick with that. VIC test is £38 i think is just all the agro of it i cant drive it there unless i MOT it first trucks off the road at the mo so is my tow car and i dont own a trailer anyway. so it it going to cost money either way.
  9. What a saga, cut a long story short missus needs a car to learn to drive in so i was going to let her use my mk4 tina 16GL simple i thought! No not so simple cause my trade policy wont let her drive anything bigger then a 1.4. Prices of mk2 escorts being so high i drew a blank at first then a mate offered me a mk1 fiesta swap for a corsair shell i have lurched in the shed. Had a look pretty good nick Zeibarted from new so kept the old tinworm at bay just scabby arches and obligatory rust around headlights, drives nice and may be correct miles 44K judging by the wear on pedals steering wheel etc. so deal was struck and said fiesta was mine, logbook lost so sent off for one only to get a letter back from DVLA saying that its been written off and they want to do a VIC test on it! Faced with more money plus having to organise a trailer or recovery to the inspection center ontop of MOT fees & tax i did the sensible thing and brought the freeads and found one with T&T for £300 genuine 45k old lady owner must have bee garaged as virtualy no rust at all though i think everytime she drove it in & out she hit the gate posts! so now i have 2 of the bloody things i dont no what to do with the first one break it for spares for the other one or try and sell it on again it does have very minor damage to rear bumper/valance hence the writeoff (i just thought someone had backed into a post at some point) what do you think it's worth? It's the bronze one fiesta festival
  10. got some scuttle panel bits cut out of scrap cars if you need some.
  11. basically all the mk1 panels are the same saloon/est/van. ford being ford tight arses when they brought out the mk2 escort all they did to the estate/van was put a mk2 grill & headlights on it (and dash of course). so they changed the front of the wings and narrowed the tops so they could fit a mk2 bonnet which is wider than a mk1. saves money on presses etc. PS for example have you ever compared the back end of an escort mk1/2 van and a anglia van!!
  12. maybe as its not very far for me (car might make it) LOL
  13. YUP! mk3 laser/2.8i special type 9 gearstick
  14. sounds like fun!! may be up for it
  15. try swapping the bleed nipple and pipe union positions over this might work as the bleed nipple has more thread on it and will screw into the caliper further and hopefully into the undamaged part of the thread
  16. i know what you mean, i do get bored with them after a while i think its a bit to do with driving an old/modifyed car they are great at first but after a while all the things that don't work properly start to really piss you off. my way of dealing with it is stick it in the barn and get something else on the road, then may be go back to it in a few months/years but thats probably why my shed is filled with 20 odd OSF in various states of neglect!!
  17. i put poly type bushes in my granny and they lasted 3 months gonna buy some superflex ones this time. the ad says beware of cheaper immitations and sadly in my experiance they are right tho i may just put new rubber ones in as they seem to last ok.
  18. yes pretty sure its an essex V6 rear sumped pickup pipe
  19. mk2 escort throttle cable and linkage bar but the manifold bracket has been cut down if i am not mistaken
  20. you need to take the wiper assembly out from under the dash and then replace the part once its out. i have a few mechs if needed.
  21. sorry mate my memory is shit! i can ask one of my mates who races for one if you get stuck
  22. be careful doc, when you put a car cover on a car outside in the wind the cover tends to rub through paint on edges and corners as it moves in the wind. i would advise sticking some old blankets between the car and the waterproof cover mate
  23. i'd say bortaf is right i know some sierras had rs 7 spokes, tho the ones i had were 15" just the wrong offset
  24. did you not see all the granada bits when you came down to get those capri bits mate? what bit's are you after? SPARKY
