started work back on my mk2 recovery truck, been doing little bits to it for the past couple of years but now i am entering OSFDC hopefully (just got both to finish before march!!) i thought i had better get it done as i need to transport the capri to santapod & shakey, capris gonna have welded diff 4125:1 or 389:1 so i don't fancy driving the car on the road all the way there

can anyone tell me where i may be able to source a secondhand steel flywheel and sintered clutch from as funds are a bit limited, i am prepared to buy a new friction plate but need to save on the rest. i am getting a bit desperate as my pinto can't be finished until i can get one to balance the crank with. want to get the car ready for OSFDC (starts in march?) any ideas on dealers/websites/breakers would be much appreciated SPARKY

if you dont fit one the engine will try to stall when you pull up at junctions. there is a red & black wire in the loom that you need to connect to the brakelight switch, this then becomes live when the brakes are applied and helps to sort the above problem out .i think you need to adjust the injection slightly. if not fit a speed sensor.

got to slam it mate. i love x packs but most people seem to go down the route of massive wheels to fill those massive arches and they end up jacked right up which IMO ruins the look. if i ever get round to finishing my XX pack i am going to slam it 3" ! 1" lowering blocks and 2" decambered leaf springs the same as my red mk3 capri SOD THE IMPRACTABILTYS

i dont really want the granny anyway,as i have got my mk2 estate (in the background) so i sold it to my mate a while back before he did all the bodywork on it, i only brought it originaly to save it from being raced! the amount of work that has been done to it probably far outweighs the value of the tina, as the tina needs many hours with the old MIG welder. i will probably just paint it and sell it on. might give it another 12months of life before someone sticks it in the back of a jag round wimbledon raceway! the price racers are paying for mk2 grannys down here it's pretty inevitable.

might be able to make it if the engine in my capri lasts that long. i dont think the new one will be ready in time so i will just have to keep my fingers crossed and get breakdown recovery! as my pinto is extremley tired

it looks cool as fook mate! my roadrat capri is part matt black part yellow 2 pack primer as personaly i have done the matt black thing to death. i am toying with sticking my 14" slots off my corsair on it as i am pretty bored with my allycats you dont get any one trying to cut you up when you are in a matt black motor

MATT BLACK IS THE WAY! been there done that so my capri is going to be half black half 2pack yellow primer in a kinda 70s racer style.

mk1 are smaller the same as mk1&2 tina, corsair anglia & capri. mk2 are the same as mk3/4/5 tina mk1 granny & pre facelift mk2 granada

that was my kinda view on it i have still got plenty of other projects i havent done anything to for years anyway.

just swaped my mk1 2 door tina for a prefacelift mk2 28i granny! the cortina needs loads of work and i mean loads, it was taken off the road after the drivers side wing got stuffed in back in 1987 and it has been residing in my workshop since '92 when i got it and i havent found the time to do it yet so it's proably a sensible move. the grannys had new front wings & valence, all welding done and well prepped for a respray, shaved door handles and remote popper kit. just needs paint and putting back together! so i should be able to get round to that by xmas. so this- for this-

i had twin side pipes on mine coming out just before the rear drivers side wheel and it sounded ace! tho i did keep the center boxes the springs got cut on mine cause it had a broken spring which failed the mot so we just cut the rest to match and it ended up fookin low, kept getting stuck at car shows and speed humps were a total no no. god i miss that car!! if you ever get bored with it or need space/ money please pm me as i would probably have to buy it!!
