  1. Well, I ended up with Admiral. Best of a bad bunch really. Adrian Flux, what a joke. Guy tried to barter with me on the phone, Whats the cheapest quote your had etc etc.. How does £430 pound sound...? OK how about £330 then? What would it take for you to give me the go-ahead now? Do you have a figure in your head? Double glazing salesmen have nothing on those clowns. I just said give me your cheapest quote and I will compare MYSELF with others. He actually said ''sorry sir it doesn't work that way''. I said goodbye.! Never again. Crooks the lot of them but Adrian flux Premier league.
  2. Interesting post this one. I will keep my eye on it with baited breath.
  3. First the bad news... Stripe is wrong colour in the photos but could just be the camera. Its an RS2000 stripe by the way. OK then..Some Mexicos where banged as 1600GT, On engine it always read 1600GT regardless of outside badging . It looks like a type 49 shell which indicates Mexico, shouldnt have side chrome though. Front wings look slightly flared which is a good sign. Wheels are not Escort, they are Capri Laser. Have you seen the car in the flesh? What does the log book say it is? Check VIN number here: http://www.rs-garage.co.uk/decode.html Mexico, RS1600 and RS2000 Mk1 Escorts had type 49 shells ?(similar but not identical to export shells) How to ID a type 49 shell: http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?p=854826&highlight=type#post854826 The good news: Even if its not a Mex if its solid, mechanically sounds and is as good as it looks in the photos its a fair price and may be the buy of the century if its a Mex or RS. If your serious go and see it and take someone who knows early Escorts with you. Print off the links and give it a good check. If its a clean usable copy haggle on the price. If it checks out as a genuine Mexico buy it, sell a kidney if you have to.!
  4. Hi guys, Thought I would offer a bit of 'newbie' view on the show. I went to the show, I have recently taken the plunge and bought a Mk2 RS2000 after a long time off the scene I thought I would see some others owners of similar cars and have a chat. I was totally underwhelmed by what I saw there. Sure there was the odd OSF and obviously the OSF stand flew the flag but tatood plastic engine covers just dont do it for me and never will. Neither do intercoolers with ''Airsearch'' stenciled on them..to be honest I didnt know a Focus RS even had a Turbo and really dont care. The track bit seemed pointless to me, Spose I should have bought a programme (but after the entry fee already felt fleeced) just looked like a load of cars mostly Focus and Fiestas going not very fast or exiting aimlessly going round the track, apparently one did try an overtake but I missed that. I came away thinking its the way things are now after 20+ years off the scene and just thought I should have done my homework before attending. I did have a chat with a few owners of said orange/blue brigade and came away with the view they where enthusiastic, just not enthusiasts . It seems these days you need zero mechanical knowledge just a wad full of cash and a computer. Glad Im not the only person who thought it wasnt up to much for the proper F.O.R.D fan. Would rather have a tooth pulled than go to the next one.
  5. Looks like an 80's Ford radio to me. Standard fare Ford radio. Lots on ebay and most go for under £30.
  6. Thanks all. Jack, yours is a bit tasty too. Bet those TB's sound good.
  7. Sounds interesting..Got an Escort though not a tina. Am I still invited.?
  8. Saved for a long while to buy it. Had one exactly the same in 1984. Swore I would buy another..and...well I have.! Its actually a really good one. 38k from new and only one previous owner, completely standard. Funny how memories deceive though. Back in the day I remember RS's being fast. My van is faster these days. Love it to bits though.
