First job was at a Ford subsidiary as a Precision tool maker apprentice. 1 Pound per hour for a 49 hr week. Hated every minute but good group of lads at college. Decided I didnt want to be stuck in a factory for the rest of my working life. Left as soon as I qualified and havent been near a lathe or milling machine since. Still got my old imperial Micromiter though and still know how to read it. No digital verniers in those days. Saved like mad through my three years and bought my first Ford. An RS2000 for £2995.00 only had 30k on it as it was only 3 years old. How times change.

I used the ones in the pic above and got some square plastic covers for them. Gave piece of mind too. I once dropped a spanner onto a battery in the car, battery exploded and was badly burnt, also damaged the car. Lesson learnt.

Yep 70mm or less is what you need. You can raise or lower the servo tower a bit too.
-
Exactly as he said. I had an AX block in my SA Escort. Got it bored to 87mm. The 1700 Caterham 7's had AX blocks I believe. Sold the car now though. I now run a Cosworth N/A long throw crank and bored and sleeved to 94mm. Goes like stink.

I tried all the above. Ended up buying a new fibrglass one from Historic Motorsport. It fitted really nice. Not cheap though. https://www.historicmotorsport.net/shop/new-parts/fibreglass-products/mk2-escort/mk2-escort-fibreglass-rear-parcel-shelf/

Petrol tank level sender ohm readings full and empty?
YellowTaxi replied to BIG G's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
Had trouble myself. Found it a real minefield. Some voltage regs give one reading on the gauge while another gives a totally different reading. It seems most old regs are pretty knackered, I tried about 10. Ended up fiting an aftermarket gauge to my RS dash, it was tricky but works 100% now. Did the same with the temp gauge too. -
Easiest way to spot Lazer wheels at a glance is are by the circular casting around the bolt holes, twice as thick on Lazers.

Yep, Some Capri's, Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts lots of other RWD Fords too.

Too true, its your car so do what you want. I had such an original RS2000 Mk2 I just couldnt do anything to it. Sold it and put the funds into a Mk2 Mexico, not a single part original. I can do whatever I want with it. I call it Triggers Broom.😁 I love the thing, Cosworth power now. -
Looks nice but need more photos to give acurate guess.

And now for something completely different ....
YellowTaxi replied to Vista's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
I like it. I hope it drives like a Mk6 rather than a Mk2 though after all that effort. -
Now thats a Capri..! Love it. Well done guys.
-
loving the RS2000. Out of interest how much is something like that to buy in Aus?
-
My Mexico is 100% female. Been rinsing me since we met.! It started with a chance encounter and I just had to take her on. Been nothing but trouble ever since. But, just once in a while she gives me a big smile and I know it was meant to be.😀

For sound you really cant beat Gordon Murrays new T50. V12 N/A it absolutely screams. I have been licky enough to go in one. Its on another level.
-
Looks decent enough. Probably made in China but looks a hell of a lot better than the other one. How much is it?

Get ya wallets out for the lads
YellowTaxi replied to Dave Knight's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CARS FOR SALE
Wrong head rests. Should be vinyl covered. Just being pedantic realy. Wouldnt pay that for it though I would love to own it. -
You may think you will get over the sale pretty soon. After all most people dont have a car stashed away and rarely drive it. They seem happy enough.! Believe me, once its in your blood its there. I made the mistake of selling my pride and joy RS2000 when the prices went crazy. Regreted it straight away and stll do. I got another now but still miss that car. Glad things worked out in the end. Nice car by the way.

Strange because I had a replacement from burtons for my RS2000 and apart from the colour it was exactly the same as your original item. Perhaps you had an incorrectly moulded one.

But how many classic cars do add up to what they are being sold as in the eyes of the DVLA. It is a case of buyer beware but if we enthusiasts cant spot a good car when we see it what hope is there. I think we can spot a good genuine car, the issue really is the DVLA have such wavy lines when it comes to registering we are all getting jumpy. So, unless the car has had one owner and spent its life in an air conditioned bubble its at risk of being labelled with a Q plate and therefore of considerably less value. and desirability The HCVA are doing their best to go ' Head to Head' with the DVLA and sort out this mess. They have made great inroads so far and are the only people really fighting our corner. The owners clubs also have a vested interest as they want to keep the breed 100% pure. So are not really helping matters. Unfortunately something that greatly effects us all has been brushed under the carpet. its only if it effect us as an individual we get involved. This owner is only involved because it effects him directly. Like most of us I have a car with many changed panels and a few non-original parts, and I’m also guilty of 'keeping my head down' and hopping it will either not happen to me or it will blow over. Its a real mess and unless its sorted out each and every one of us could be effected. So.....until further notice. 'Buyer Beware'.!

How about an Imp with a motorbike engine in the back. That really would be something.

Theres £300 just in the petrol cap, lights and bumper. Not sure Mrs would have it though. Shame.🤣
