Could it be a Guy Martin thing?

I bought a Spainsh one and converted it to Italian spec. The return line was easy, drilled it out. Pulled the brass bit out of and old carb and presed it in. Make sure you dont drill it too loose. I put the brass bit in the frezer and heated the carb. Once fitted it will never budge. The anti, stall wasnt so easy but took it all of the old carb, it was a while ago but if my memory serves me I had to drill a hole at one angle then another to meet it at a different angle, to make an airway if that makes sense? Then swap over the diaphram, lingage etc, Holes to mount the actual cover part were drilled but not tapped in the new carb so had to put a thread in them. It worked really well when finished. Test it by slowly lifting the clutch at tick-over. The revs rise to prevent a stall.

Yep that really did put the UG in ugly. Then again all later BMW,s are ugly. Like a bulldog licking piss off a neetle.

For me its Silver all day long. Im all for 'as it left the factory' which over the tears has cost me fortunes putting things back as they where. Then again, its your car and if it pleases you go for whatever you want. Do agree though, if its a good grill buy a cheapo and do that first to make sure you like it. Nice car either way.

I know the car. It was for sale at Border Reivers for quite a while. I looked at it, was dubious to say the least. Re-printed/ re-produced body ID plate. Wrong alloys. Basically RS money but sketchy history./authenticity

Hi Guys, Right then, I have a few parts if anybody needs them. 1600 Crossflow engine complete, 711M block. I have seen it run but not driven. sounded really good. Crossflow inlet manifold and twin choke weber. Pair Sport orange stripe front seats no rips but dirty, probably clean-up. Crossflow starter motor and solenoid. 4 Branch sport tubular exhaust manifold. Crossflow rad. Pair of front black door cards, not sure if original but in nice tidy condition. Loads of other bits ascociated with above, just ask. If you need something listed above please let me know. Provided your not going to put it on ebay its yours for a small donation to a really good cause. Yep, Its goin to auction. I have sold a few through Silverstone Auctions and they have all gone above estimate, one went 30k over so we will see. As the saying goes ''the market will find the true value'' I am a bit twitchy though. Would be sad to see it go for lower estimate. Hopefully it gets bought by sopmeone who really appreciates it and uses it. Its such a good car, no rust and never been welded in its life. New interior, new tyres, re-furbished Alloys. Why am I selling it? Even I dont know but will be looking for a project to replace it. Wish me luck.
