  1. 3/8unf bolts are what you need, nice and long, change one at a time with vehicle on axle stands and a jack under x member, when bolts changed let jack down, then when engines in you just jack it up again and put short bolts in, job done
  2. fancy a bit of the country life eh!
  3. HIGHLY STRESSED = UNRELIABLE AND REGULAR REBUILDS say no more
  4. all singing and dancing 2ltr xflow will cost you 4 to 5k by time you get all right components together and at end of day its a highly stressed engine for about 200bhp? i spent £3k on my xe and have approx 245bhp on tbs and its got plenty more potential

  7. just give it a week or 2 if your worried about that, did you change insurers or was it a straight forward renewal with same company? ive had incidents i been to same car twice in 3 weeks for new screens, shit happens and its why you pay your premiums to cover these sort of things
  8. it doesnt effect no claims or your premiums, i know as its what i do for a living!
  9. they will want an engineers report for the mods and work carried out
  10. decent output battery and also some decent gauge cable thru the car, too small and you will get immense voltage drop, i used 35mm2 earthing cable which i got from pro weld, i never had problems also its worth adding a couple extra earth straps to the engine, i used to have a battery from an astra turbo diesel van which was about 580amps
  11. to be honest i never had problems with starting with highly modded motors........ where is your battery located? is it upto the job?
  12. £425 a month is cheap!! 1 bed flat down here will cost you over £500 a month plus the usual extras like council tax and utility bills
  13. Question for you all??? If you buy something do you leave feedback for them even if they not left it for you?? My theory is that when you complete checkout and send payment via paypal your part of the transaction is complete and feedback should be left,,,, then you leave feed back when you recieve goods and are happy with thier service.? so many times do i get messages from the seller asking for good feedback which i agree is deserved but i ask them "WHERES MINE??"
  14. i have a proper race and bearing driver tool, knocked them into my hi spec hubs with not much abuse or any heat, been on the car and no problems
  15. Shouldnt have to do any of that if they are machined properly, the hi spec stuff is spot on and all fits lovely with no abuse
  16. i have hi spec alloy hubs and put the race in with a normal bearing driver, no heat need or excessive force was required
  17. have you noticed a pattern yet with companys when you tell them thier products dont fit? "NAH MATE WE NOT HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE ITS GOT TO BE YOUR CAR"!
  18. www.coh-baines.co.uk try these people for your rubbers, website is pretty shite but ring them is best option, good quality rubbers not sure if they door profiles but worth a try
  19. i think the fines should a lot higher for no insurance, imo i pay my insurance and so should everyone else, if you cant afford it then dont drive! even at 37 im still paying over £400 for a diesel estate car with 8yrs no claims, and despite my escort being off the road for over 2 years its always been insured so im building up 2 lots of NCB
  20. oldfordautoservices do them for just over £80 each new
  21. i think when you fit one to a car it technically becomes a trailer, so you need to check you have trailer entitlement on your license, also it needs to have 4 legal tyres, also make sure you dont exceed your cars towing capacity/kerbweight
  22. if any of us had experienced a similar problem from any other parts supplier we would of mentioned it to the rest of the forum, however it seems like everyone is defending this particular supplier because he is a member, at end of day yes he got his money back but considering the cost of the item wasnt much cheaper than a larger retailer and no doubt jon appreciated the business from a fellow member the quality was in question, and yes i agree you only find out how good a seller is when it comes to how well they deal with a problem
  23. got to admit its a good idea, some people will buy it just to boost thier rating and he gets paid for doing/selling/posting nothing
  24. marshalls never get injured tho!! they have a reg flag and a whistle which stops all known injurys! as for the car all it needs is some hub caps and a touch up stick!
  25. i know when i had my mex nearly 20 yrs ago had loads of problems with the shite mk1 escort handbrake set up, i went to local breakers and bought a mk2 backplates and adjusters for £8 then a new mk2 cable, it worked really well after, ive also used rear brakes from a 2.8 capri which are slightly wider and just need to shorten the bar across the axle
