just an observation at this point and by no means trying to blame anyone or pass blame or protect anyone, the sale of goods act as in "fit for purpose" in a way he isnt at fault as the good he sells are for modified and competition cars which you is why you by them cos std parts are not upto the job and "will fit" if you have the combination of parts in place prior. Surely you cant expect him or his staff to know of every possible combination of parts which thousands of people have all done different to suit our own tastes and driving style. Yes they should at least say to you that it "MAY NOT" fit a std car without some tweaking, as for the doris with attitude i would take a drive up there and shove the phone up her ass regardless of the 300 mile round trip!!

Cracking event been there many times over the years, know a lot of the drivers doing this event as well, Peter Lloyd has even made the journey down from bridgend

My shopping list is getting longer lol

Rear qtr window rubbers never fit properly no matter where you get them from, get a good quality 2nd hand set or spend top money for ones that fit -
The 3 piece manifolds wont fit without modifying the servo tower, they normally recommend that you use a wcxm as well however i have fitted a 3 piecer with a servo tower and all i had to do was bend in the side of the tower to clear but i was running a wc, problem is nowadays all these parts we buy are NON std and nearly always need fettling to fit properly, only tonight i dropped in my new engine but found that the back plate to the air filter hits the bulkhead but hey ho its one of those things, you would expect with a £5k motor it be fine but ford never fitted a fuel injected XE in a mk2 with chassis mounts
-
my cage is bolt in SD cage with door bars, the main loop touches the lip by the door catch and its really close to the front pillar about level with the dash panel. To be honest ive spoken to Anton at JRE Motorsport and he said he has never had a cage fit properly without having to fettle it in both Mk1s and 2s
-
makes me wonder if i can fit the new engine, fuel tank and platform and mot and tax it in time but i think i be hoping a bit!

Historic Motorsport? or Historic Rallysport? they are 2 different companys
-
For those of you with 2dr mks who want some practical yes nice looking door panels but dont like the alloy panels. I ordered some plastic door panels from Historic Rallysport the other day and they arrived next day, they are 3mm thick black plastic and have a fake pattern on them so dont look to out of place, come complete with the plastic clips to fix to the door, no extra drilling of your doors either, no holes for winder or grab handles but the pattern shows you where to put them if needed, come as a complete set of 2 fronts and 2 rears, £120 inc the postage and vat, would recommend them to anyone

Front/rear screen solid rubber or with insert? Escort MK2
livewire7116 replied to Fred_Bear's topic in OLD SKOOL FORD CHAT
if your not a fan of chrome you can buy black insert, as for the tool slipping out get someone to fit it who knows what they are doing, and there is only 1 screen for a mk2 escort unless its an estate or van then you use a mk1 screen. Variation of tints are as following Clear Bronze Green Bronze with blue top tint Green with blue top tint heateds only come in clear -
the car had a ViC check before i bought it and the price i ask for it will reflect in the fact its a damage repairable
-

-
hope the commute to work isnt to far what with fuel prices going up all the time!

Sept 07 i bought a passat est which i knew was damaged repaired i didnt mind as the guy has been doing them for 20 yrs and is well known, plus at £2k under book i didnt mind, its been for 3 mots since and it was onlly on the 2nd test i took it for the tester asked me if i knew it was damaged, its only cos i know him well that he mentioned it, this year im getting rid of it so i need to find out if by law i have to declare it to them or if its down to them to check it themselves.
-
usually they are only inserts, why done you contact people who made them and see if they can supply std inserts, then simply knock them out and new ones in
