so how do we stop them from taking the car?! what about getting it repaired, whats if its not safe to be put back on the road, or what is it cant be repaired due to the internal damage, like i said the doors dont shut properly what should he do? tell them to piss of and come to him? i cant see another way round it.. the very reason you said Glyn, hel never see it again, thats why we're thinking of removing all the goodies and putting it back to standard.. was a bloody good car though.

thats the problem insurance already know, and i dont think its really that safe for repairing... i think that if it was repaired the safety of the vehicle would be compromised in another smash.. its looking like itl be stripped and swapped over with std parts before its taken away..

bound to be a bolt/ nut or two under the inlet manifold, you taking that with the carbs- i would! wd40 will be your friend throughout this! mole/vice grips, spanners/ adjustables, soft faced hammer, screw drivers, go get em!

Ok not osf, but my bros car is just as nice and he's put so much into it. he got hit on the rear drivers corner which has buggered that quater panel, the boot and the rear drivers door dont open and close too easily now. looks like some of the structural metal behind the quater panel is screwed. now hes been onto the insurance and they want to take it away for asessment but once they do, and if they write it off, apparently he cant touch it anymore. so should he remove the trick bits on his car and swap it back for the std stuff so he can then transfer it onto another car hes already got linned up? they prob wont give him the money hes spent it on, like the grand engine, so should he swap it out, so if they do take the car, they get a shitter? anythoughts welcome, but lets keep them to the subject, no slagging etc! ps he is fully insured for the mods, but doubtfull theyl give him what its all worth, plus theyl just crush a shit hot motor, leather interior etc... thanks.

Hell yeah!! i use the Supercharged beast everyday, regardless of weather etc. she does me proud! i feel guilty sometimes for not having a 2nd sh!t heap to abuse, but im a student and cant afford 2 cars. so i run the capri, 230 miles from uni to home at holiday times, and around portsmouth when at uni the rest of the time. it gets abused and raced all the time and takes the punishment well, it would be an offence not to take advantage of the blown pinto wouldnt it?!

lots of torque/ revs and extremely light front end! have a search on google, people out there build them for comps etc so theres lots of info out there on whats needed. just gota be applied to the base car. but you may have to strengthen the chassis considerably for when it lands again !

i may well be up for tagging along, not going on the track but it would be cool! if i go, il happliy represent OSF, might just go to check it out anyways.

Sometimes i get sick of the all the things that need attention on mine, but then its because of everything thats been done to it... i do sometimes think that a 2nd car, something modern and reliable might be worth it, but i havent taken the plunge yet. but even then, from the hassle my mates brother, parents etc get with their modern cars, i might be just as well off to stay as i am.

i would certainly consider rewelding the centers, ive never seen it done, but im sure it canbe, depends on how orginal you want to keep the rims. do you know what the offset is? and what you need it to be?

i really need a black and white image (prefer wire frame type) of a mk3 capri for a uni project. im not good with photoshop etc so i cant do it myself... does anyone have one they wouldnt mind me using for my own purposes? (strictly uni work, no publication etc!) im after some kind of image, like what you can find on the front cover of the haynes manual or similar. please send me/ post up anything you think might be what im after. thanks for any help you might be able to give!! thats a good point actually! jap motor, forget what their called (something like DET??), certainly worth a go, as mentioned easy to tune to a huge horse power, and they do sound good!

the oil in the water is because of the head, their renound for going porus, buts its a simple job to fix, be fitting a liner in the oil way (from head to block) the XE is known as the RED TOP, they came in various guises from the early cavaliers/ calibras up to the later astra gsi's. (2.0L 16v). the earlier cavs and calibras had more power as standard and power was reduced as time went on through various restrictions (inlets etc). the turbo calibras were the same engine but built for turbos (low comp etc) the later vaux's like mk3 cavs used the ecotech engine, which i think is derived from the xe but again produce even less power, (130/135, 2.0L 16v) hope above is useful

i can vouche for XE, if you can find an earlier one itl have around 140/150 bhp as standard, and very little work will see 170 ish and some thing that sounds mental and pulls like a train! good engines will cost you though, and make sure the head hasnt gone porus or get one that has been 'fixed' courtney sport are the people to speak to about tuning the xe (well any vaux motor really), just so happens they are based in my home town! My bros xe makes one hell of a hair raising noise when gunning it- awesome!

thanks for the replys guys and gals, im honestly unaware of what it is ive done, i havent shagged their girlfriends! i tried asking if something was up but just got a 'no'. like you have said im just guna have to have it out with them, see what they say. im liking some of the ideas you guys have 'suggested', i dont hate them enough to try them out YET, the most anoying thing is we were all good mates then it went sour. i duno, il have to think out what im guna say. thanks though!
