  1. So my car is taking a slightly different direction then planned. After finding out that my axle was leaking oil from the casing i have now had a replacement painted & fitted (pic to follow soon). The guys at Old Ford Autos had a contact with an Atlas at a good price so I got them to sort it. Whilst the car was there I asked them to wrap the exhaust & manifold, as this was a job I had in my mind but not planned. End result is looking good, and will help with some underbonnet temperatures. The engine bay needs some attention next!
  2. I'm hoping I can actually make it this time, got a 6am start the next day though........
  3. Looking sweet as, always difficult to take someone else's pride & joy & redo but you've pulled it off, & Darren approves, top job fella
  4. Was thinking this myself, now that summer show season is starting up.
  5. Good luck with it, great vision in burgundy, slammed to the deck. Will look proper
  6. Not me I have bollox all money so the strip down to sort the bodywork is going to have to wait but my mate's Capri is getting stripped down ready for bodywork & Caprikid87's Capri is currently having new metal welded in from previous bodged repair work. Mine's a daily anyway, gotta love winter weather & rear wheel drive old skool Fords
  7. "Halloween" one this weekend? Hoping to go up there, haven't been since last year
  8. 3 cracking Escorts, loving slammed RS2000
  9. Lovely motor, hope it goes to a good home
  10. Discovered on ebay in 2007 so it's probably gone to the scrapper.
  11. Pretty much basics - jack, wrench, AA card, mobile phone with torch app, and me, with my limited, but ever expanding knowledge of how old cars break down
  12. Yeah I watched it. Wasn't as good as Wheeler Dealers but was funny with Bernie. As long as they keep to restoring cars to standard & not modified with Leepu then it's another car resto programme to watch. Zodiac should be interesting though.
  13. Great turnout today. Love your motor Frenchy, should have come & had a chat about it!
  14. There were a maximum allocation of 45 Capris allowed in the car park but there was more space on the day. As Surrey Capri Club chairman I'll be organising it next year so we'll iron out the problems. The Stratos wasn't lost. It seems during the day there was a camera truck filming some high end motors (Audi R8, Lambo etc), & the Stratos was with them.
  15. No this happened before Ford Fair (didn't go either ) I was looking at Ashley bits but opted for Sportex instead which I got off Ebay, in effect same as Peter Lloyd Rallying ones. I'll try to get vid up soon
  16. Another update. Got a Sportex 3" exhaust & tubular manifold because the original system crumbled away. So removed the old system The Bumpstop also broke at the same time Fitted up the new system: That should have been the end of the story, job done, but as anybody who's fitted aftermarket exhausts knows, these things never quite fit right. The middle pipe was dragging along the ground & no matter what I did just wouldn't work. Anyway, other issues prevented me from working on the car. Then when I did think I got it right couldn't test drive as it didn't start! So one failed jump start & one replacement starter motor (thanks Calvin!) I was up & ready. Old Ford Autos have had it until today & sorted it, along with the bumpstop. They have also found a new problem... Turns out that the rear bearing keeps seeping oil out, but it was replaced recently, & removing the bearing is still tight, so they believe there is a hairline crack in the axle casing itself. It's not major, but replacing rear bearings is getting tedious & needs sorting. More to come soon
  17. Yesterday was the 6th Ace Cafe Capri Meet. Always a great day, lots of different Capris. My pics of the day and a little video of the Surrey Capri Club convoy
  18. Poor Burt Every year I say I'm going to make this show & I really hope to this year
  19. Cheers for the advice on that
  20. Just imagine if you saw that on the road! Love it
