  1. Unless someone will correct me, high compression unless it's a P100 then it's a low compression Pinto. My mate came unstuck with that as he wanted a 2.0 Pinto for his Capri & got one out of a P100, only to find it was low compression version. Sold it to someone wanting to turbo it.
  2. Haven't got the money but would be a lovely addition & would keep it local to your area. If my lottery numbers come up I'll let you know!
  3. PM'd
  4. This Capri was at the 45th anniversary event at Brooklands in September, and yes, it is a rather awesome beast with good history, but I was disappointed with the owner for putting it up on sale 1 week after the show, and originally at £36k! I'd had email convo with him 7 a chat on the day. seemed a well balanced kinda guy, then went loopy trying to sell. I think he should keep it, Buying the history is fine, just don't mark up....
  5. If 5 numbers come up at the weekend, I might make a trip down to Dorset. Would love to see this in the metal.
  6. I agree Dave, I will make sure it follows as close to perfection as to what I can afford. So much o me would love to full nut&bolt resto it, but without adequate cover & protection I don't feel comfortable leaving it out anywhere, besides I love it as a daily driver, but good enough for shows. Will just have to wait, I'm back on the show circuit soon
  7. Cheers guys, it is a awesome car, but it's had downfalls. After the Surrey Capri Club's enormous success at Brooklands for the Capri 45th Anniversary the weather had already taken hold. Water in the footwell is not what I wanted to see! So I stripped it down ready to take to Jay. Removing the wing & having a good look around revealed everything on the drivers side. ot quite as much rot as some cars, but it's put me out of an old Ford for a few months. Rear spring mount points are nearly shot through.
  8. This is only 4 days away - , so a final bit of info for those attending. If you are coming with a Capri, use the Campbell Gate entrance, KT13 0QN, up Brooklands Drive (past the roundabout, look for the sign JTI Members Hill). The gates will open at 10am, but there will be a queue of cars. Once in, marshals will direct you to an area where you can park Ticket prices for Capris and members of the public are: £11 per adult, £6 children 5-16, under 5s free. Allows you tickets into the museum & other exhibits all day. There will be stickers available on the day to celebrate the event at £2 each, and various trade stands. We will also hold the draw for the Brooklands Banking photoshoot, only if you are picked you pay a fee of £10, with the event taking place around 1:30pm. There will be awards for Best In Show Mk1 Mk2 & Mk3 also given out, plus People's Choice, this is around 2:30/3pm. If you do not wished to be judged a red marker can be displayed on your windscreen. Any more info on the event please PM me. We have an estimated 250 Capris attending, with the weather outlook possible rain early morning but dry & warm with cloud most of the day, so don't let a bit of rain put you off. This will be an awesome event for any OSF enthusiast as a final show to end the season with. Hope to see some of you there! Kris
  9. Just turn up, but I'll stick you down on the main list just so that we have a good idea of numbers attending.
  10. I think some Capris might be passing that way too that day, must stop for a burger & teas.
  11. Plenty, as we have space for 250 Capris in total. I'll put your name down!
  12. Apologies for the late posting! So in less than 7 weeks time, the Surrey Capri Club are holding an anniversary celebration for 45 years of the Capri, at the world famous Brookalnds Museum, on Saturday 27th September. The event is being supported by classic Ford magazine, and by advertising the event via Retards Club & Capri based forums, we have over 180 potential Capris attending for the day. All models will be catered for, from the Mk1 to the Mk3, with special models of Tickfords, 280s, and race cars present. we still have enough space for 250 Capris Entry fee is the standard Brooklands price of £11, which will allow you access to the museum itsel, and if you are bringing a Capri, entry into the main museum area to park your car with everyone else. There will be a chance to enter a raffle for Capri owners to have a special photoshoot on the banking, this is only open to 30 Capris. If you are picked you pay a fee of £10 to ourselves as organisers, and then be directed to the Brooklands banking for the photoshoot. This will be weather permitting. Food& drink is available in the Museum Café, however, you can bring your own, but no barbeques or alcohol is allowed on site. Clothing & stickers for the day will be available for the event, clothing can be preordered on www.surreycapriclub.co.uk If you have a trade stand, especially one that can cater for all model cars or Ford parts, please email me at k.saines@ntlworld.com for more info. Burnouts/Donuts are NOT permitted, and anyone who does so will be escorted off site immediately. Entry is available to the public and non Capri owners all day. For more info or to register on the list (no prebooking, just to give estimates of numbers attending), please PM me or see our website. This is going to be a great event & we want all fans of OSF & Capris to be part of it! Make this the last show you attend this year!
  13. Hey all, Something I haven't had the chance to post here (too much time spent at work & organising stuff) but in less than 8 weeks time on Saturday 27th September the Surrey Capri Club is holding the 45th anniversary of the Capri at Brooklands Museum. some of you will know this if you read Classic Ford. The organising side of it that I have been doing is going great - we have over 180 potential Capris turning up on the day, a few trade stands & hopefully a special guest. However, one bit we haven't been able to sort are marshals for the event. So I am asking anyone who would be available that day to get involved& volunteer to be part of this awesome day. A marshals duties will be to get everyone into parking spaces, including special club stands or special cars into the paddock, and organising Capris & their drivers onto a special photoshoot on the Brooklands banking. Hi Vis jackets/vests will be supplied, and there will be a full briefing of the day before everyone comes in. We require 5 marshals, that can be at the venue between 8am & 6:30/ 7pm very latest, Knowledge of Brooklands would be great but not essential. I would advise on brining a packed lunch. Entry is free as you will be part of organising the day's events. Also, please note to volunteer you have to be over 18. Please PM me if you like to volunteer & for more info. We require this by August 28th at the latest. Thanks all, & event details to be posted in the events section as well.
  14. Hey man yeah nice talking to you too & thanks on the thread. It's a daily, I try to keep it in the best nick possible, one day I'll strip it & have all the work done but until I get the money it's how it is. Don't forget about Brooklands either, hope you can make it. Kris
  15. Had a great day maybe another time camping but nice during the Sunday, next meet very soon!
  16. Sorry I didn't get over to you guys, got held up talking to Capri people along the way. Wicked day, too bloody hot though!
  17. I'm there on the South Essex Capri Club stand already. Been there last 4 years running, no one ever stays until 5, everybody starts piling out around 3 or 4.
  18. So thanks to the guys at Old Ford Autos I have a fresh ticket & some new metal on my sills. New front pads, replaced handbrake rod bush at rear, adjusted exhaust, ready to go terrorise for another 12 months!
  19. As topic. Helping to look for a Fiesta for a neighbours son who's just assed his test. Really want to stick him in a Ford & Old Skool at that so Mk1 or Mk2 Fiesta, but any Fiesta will do up to mk5 or Mk6. Budget is £1500. Would prefer a "get in & drive" T&T'd motor and one that's solid. Must be local to Camberley/Guildford area, or at least 25 mile radius (will look at Crawley or Windsor areas). Please PM if you know of any. Cheers
  20. I might be there in the Capri, depending on if I can pick it up from Old Ford as she's got through the MOT after welding & minor issues.
  21. Yep the Surrey Capri Club members will be there!
  22. Right massive update as I haven't been on here for ages. After my engine got rebuilt I ran it in for about 1000 miles & after an oil change it started smoking again, so was back to Old Ford autos to sort out. The Pertronix system was ditched, it would never spark & was useless so I went back to original dizzy but with electronic ignition to replace the points. The engine went back & was sorted out. After the running in I've done over 3500 miles & it's a really strong engine, idles well, temps keep halfway even in traffic, and apart from attending local meets I drove up to Lincolnshire last month for a Capri photoshoot, 320 mile round trip. Unfortunately all good things must come down & unfortunately there are some MOT issues. I knew some minor issues: pulling to left when braking, horn & washer jets not working, exhaust needs minor adjustment & a slight fuel leak on the 32/36 carb seals. But the biggest issue is that the lower inner chassis sills have big rust holes in them, meaning my lower seat belt anchor hasn't been attached properly, see pics. So it's at old ford autos again having all the metal taken out & new plates welded in, then my seat belt anchor will be securely attached. More damn expense but that's the crap from running a daily classic!
  23. I just watched the new BBC drama "From There to Here" today & I believe Smoke'Em was an extra. Was I right or have you got a convincing lookalike out there?

  24. It all depends on personal taste, and what you buy (or your intentions to buy). I'm between 2 & 3 as well. I like factory perfect examples, if the car has always been stored & kept bang up to date with maintenance, servicing & cleaning. If you have to build up a car from a bare shell it's a free canvas, do what you want with it. Certain special editions shouldn't really be modded but a few modern tweaks don't go amiss, especially if brakes &suspension are upgraded to cope with modern roads. For me, the South London look is nearly spot on- clean & simple, the right stance & power to boot.
