zetecrs Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 A few years ago probably 90-92 I was given free by a very old man, who had given up driving, his 1 owner car from new. It was a 68 MK2 Cortina 1300 deluxe in saluki Bronze, low mileage, essentially mint with an un sat in rear seat. The Old Guy gave it me, as he knew I liked old cars (MK2 Consuls) at time. Like a total young fool i just saw pound signs & used it for a bit then flogged it to a local unreputable car trader who fleeces people. He gave me £200 for it which I thought not bad for nothing. I heard a week later a teenage hoodlum bought it and stuffed it into a wall writing it off. Thats the biggest regret I have had, not keeping it stashed till present day. You live & learn....dont you.
Gareth Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 I got robbed with my mk1. I should've walked away when I first saw it but didnt. Ah well, we live and learn
GT_Jim Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 me and my dad sold the sttering wheel from his mk1 lotus as we needed the money to fund a triumph project and 6 months later i bought my cortina i was gutted

Mr.Sumo Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Spending £1000 in 2001 on a genuine Harrier , buying about £700 worth of new panels for it....running out of money 3 years ago when i was restoring it ( and the only Silver one i"d owned )...selling it to my boss for about £1000...then seeing it 2 years later painted ORANGE with Capri S orange check interior i hasten to add The worse thing is , he still has it....and its slowly rotting away in his yard unused and he won"t sell it............................

escortmad79 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Posted May 9, 2007 Regret selling this for a stupidly low amount because the garage I took it to fooked up the brakes & the MOT ran out! I got pissed off with it so sold it cheaply! Regret not buying this 1300GT off a mate (Some stupid bitch decide to use my car to get out of a parking space where I used to work, took a chunk out of my front bumper at a time I was about to put it up for sale in order to buy the mk1.) This car used to be dark green & lived at one end of my road, then got sold & moved to the other end of my road which is when Andy bought it & restored it! I wanted it but by the time the insurance was sorted he'd sold it There have been several others that I've wanted or shown interest in which I've missed out on!

Daggle Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Abusing my first car soooo much, poor little Mk1 Fiesta Supersport, that eventually I killed it into the back of an Orion, wish I still had that car.....
sab6024 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Only thing I regret is driving like an arse one night and rolling my first MK1 Escort Loved that car Decided to do the repair work to it but a wall fell on it finishing it off for me. I was gutted
escortmad79 Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Also missed out on a tax exempt Mk1 Escort estate that had been sent to the scrapyard. They only wanted £150 for it (This was before they became fashionable), didn't buy it as I wasn't after an estate, I wanted a saloon. The lad that did buy it put it throguh its MOT & all it failed on was silly minor things like headlight allignment, wiper blades & a tyre! Also missed out on a completely restored bare metal Mk2 Cortina estate rolling shell with most of the bits which was VERY cheap!! Wasn't into Tinas at the time but I'm looking at them now as an affordable alternative to Mk1/2 Escorts!
Gareth Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Only thing I regret is driving like an arse one night and rolling my first MK1 Escort Loved that car Decided to do the repair work to it but a wall fell on it finishing it off for me. I was gutted No way....
escortmad79 Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Here are a few of my other "Nearly but not quites": Genuine solid Mex shell which I could've had for somewhere around £1000-£1500 back in 2005. New inner wings fitted, new Mex wings, new bonnet, new front panel, chassis rails, new sills, stage 2 head, 40s etc, he sold it to his cousin as I couldn't afford it at the time!! As it was when I could've had it Same car partway through restoration There was also this Anglia, again didn't have the money at the time it was offered. Powered by a 1550 pre crossflow. It turned up at the last Devon Meet in the care of it's new owner: Most recently, this Fiesta 1100L
