Doc Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 I keep getting asked why so here is the short version Retrosport errol near perth through poor workmanship and choice of painter F*cked the car up but wont agree he is at fault . He demanded the full invoice for work that is substandard . I offered to pay £1000 to call it quits he refused In the mean time he has through bloody mindedness refused a recovery company access to my MGB although there is no money owed on that vehicle and refuses to give my X pack back . He has had the car now since Sept 04 ! He started the real work in March 05 all the parts and £3000 in june05 to speed the car up and by september o5 he couldnt finish it even though i supplied all the parts to complete it !!! \ Panels dont fit ,guts ripped out of it and dumped in the car the engine transplant doesnt run , the filler is un even and he didnt store or pack away any of the removed parts and The paint job from Hell see pic (and yes they didnt remove any trim ! ) his choice of painter ruined it ......Thats not even half of it . He is tricky and has an answer for everything , Mistruths mostly and some Jackanory tales . Im sick of it . Tried the legal route but he knows that its an expensive choice . So he wont settle and wont fix the work and has my car locked up and the mgb blocked in . He thinks he will end up owning the Capri nad make money out of it . I wouldnt mind but i paid £3000 in advance towards the Xpack only to have to do a deal on the Rusty Harry potter anglia to get my cash back when he F*cked the capri up . Ihave had no contact with him in a month and i think thats his plan . To let the car rot like the rest of his Sh*te stock he has on site . This is just the short version He is a conman . Im losing my dads car . Itll end in court and he will cry that i have slighted him but the facts are the facts I will get my car back and i will continue to warn anyone from using them B**tard.

He s in Scotland doesnt bother me! id drive up to go rescue the car...(plus my auntie is a qualified lawer.) doc. if you need any help i could get some free legal advice off my auntie if i ask her nicely she will be more than happy to help.

Thanks Bud . Thing is if he held his hands up and id paid him 1000 to 1500 id have walked away . This post and pics just wont do his business any good . My fear is he folds and i lose the chance of getting it back . This just isnt good practise or publicity
antz Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 well i certainly wouldnt trust that company after hearing your story. and i am sure many other folk on here wouldnt trust him either now. but if you do want any advice i can ask my auntie and she will be happy to help out...(she knows her stuff) i had trouble with something i bought off someone before and he wasnt replying.until my auntie talked to him and baffled him with lawyer talk i received my item 3 days later. good luck getting the capri back though.i really do mean it and i really do hope that it can be rescued. fingers crossed for you.

I thought if you paid for it and write on the receipt 'paid under duress' you can still fight for your money back and at least you would have your cars back

I want to make it clear That im willing to pay retrosport for the work i believe to be of standard . I have the money over in the bank ! Its Retrosport that are refusing to do the right thing and hold thier hands up to a mistake and cocking the car up and agreeing to settle the matter . all i want is my dads car back . He reads all these forums . If he will ignore tthe instructions in my letters from my Solicitor then i will have no choice but to call the Police , DVLA and Trading Standards next week .

I am currently taking court action against someone who owes me money for work that was never carried out on my anglia before i sold it. My brother is a big lawer in london and ive forwarded a link to this thread. hopfully he will shed some light on where to go for you. good luck mate keep us posted on the outcome.

Best way of making it hurt him is to get him as much bad publicity as possible, have you considered something like Rogue Traders? Are you still pursueing the legal route then?

The renovation was months now years overdue half the work is crap and he is bieng awkward to the extreme . Its a shame its come this . Things go wrong buit if the gaarge had just gone ok what do we do now . It would have been done and dusted . I wonder if its all worth the trouble
