DEP Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Had the cossie escort booked in today on the rollers to get it set up properly and have the boost turned up all ready for the w/end, Get a phonecall from the company, (very friendly and helpful guy by the way) Saying that there is a big problem with the fuelling. he went on too say if i carried on running it, it would have gone bang in a big way, he s unsure of whats causing it at the moment, but thinks it could be the ECU. He gave me a figure of 226 bhp, which is well down on what it should be, They are doing a few more diagnostics tommorrow. So fingers crossed they might find the problem. The real bad thing is i wont be running it this w/end
marky4 Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 gutted for you ian but aleast it was found before some big damage was done

DEP Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 bugger,...... at least it didnt go bang.. lucky... what sort of bhp were you expecting??? Well , when i bought the car was told 405 bhp , but had no proof, so was nt holding my breath, but the way it went, was thinking more about 350 bhp. The funny thing is the car did manage a 12.7 at the RWYB at the beginning of April, but then was just running low 13 s at central day So i guess on the plus side once its sorted, should manage low 12 s.
DEP Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 gutted m8, best get foe out then and have some BARP BARP carbs going Only a single carb mate, and i ve put most of my interior back in now, so wont be as quick as before, and i ve got problems with the nissan aswell, so FOE is my only form of transport at the mo, not sure if i wanna risk it at the mo, i will decide on the day

My 3 door is Stage III with a T34 turbo, Dark Green Injectors, RS500 Intercooler and 24psi of boost and thats about 340bhp
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Chin up me old fruity As others have already said, at least it has been found now, and not when the pistons launch themselves through that work of art called a bonnet! Keep us all posted mate

Admin Vista Posted May 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 17, 2007 bummer mate, hope it doesn't cost too much to get sorted. I know that it's costing too much feeling all too well
DEP Posted May 17, 2007 Author Report Posted May 17, 2007 bummer mate, hope it doesn't cost too much to get sorted. I know that it's costing too much feeling all too well Unfortunatly mate, i think it is gonna cost a bit, they are saying i need to change the management system, as the one thats in there, is no good and restricting it, they are talking about uprating to a Motech system, Also found out today that fuel pump is the wrong type, its basically not upto the job
BaileyMex Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 As others have said, best to find out now rather than it go pop
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 17, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 17, 2007 You just don't expect to buy a car that you think is okay and find that after owning it for a week you need a new turbo (not cheap) and now a new ECU (even more expensive) In all fairness to the previous owner I don't really think he knew much about the mechanics and spec of the car but just before Ian got it he had to have a new bottom end too Is there anything else that can go wrong ........ don't answer that
Tom Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 its the age old saying of 'shit happens'. i'm not being mean when i say that, it just does - i'm gutted for you Ian, i hate when cars go wrong (except BMW's otherwise i'd be out of a job) We sometimes get new cars in at work that are forever having problems and that's new ones!
Mk 1 Mark Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 bummer mate, hope it doesn't cost too much to get sorted. I know that it's costing too much feeling all too well Unfortunatly mate, i think it is gonna cost a bit, they are saying i need to change the management system, as the one thats in there, is no good and restricting it, they are talking about uprating to a Motech system, Also found out today that fuel pump is the wrong type, its basically not upto the job Motec With all the sensors to run motec it will end up in the £1000`s Mate you dont need Motec mate L8 or P8 4x4 shappire or escort cossy ECU will do the trick...Baby board (Pecte board) case you want air to air anti lag ectwhat ecu is in it? L1 or Level 6? And where it Garage wise? I has 360 bhp on a L6 ECU in my 2wd Shapphire. . . So ian you dont need to change your managment remap your ecu or upgrade to level 8 or P8 then you will have to change you TPS senor ect But you can run up to 500 bhp on P8 and L8.....
