bortaf Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Allways coming accross old fords in barns and feilds, comes with having a recovery truck i spose i found this wide body Mk2 escort in a feild about 1/2 a mile from Harlow a few years back (still there as far as i know) http://www.geocities.com/bortaf2000/far ... 9956372468 On the pluss side i get to see loads of scrap non fords to make up for it I used to have a contract with a garage company taking away the motors left in garages and debters cars to a pound. I've pulled cars out in 2 peices before A mini that had been stored in a garage that had flooded every year for god knows how long, last taxed in the 80's, the engine and front subframe came first, the rest of the car came next One cortina i picked up from cardiff had been in a parking spot outside for 15 years, when i left Cardiff on then M4 it deffinatly had a boot floor, trouble was when i got back to london it didn't Then there was the cavalier sports hatch that folded when i opened both the doors at the same time still drove though till the cam belt snapped Strangley enough a 1938 Humber Snipe military staff car was ni on perfect after 30 years in a barn, they just don't make em like they used to
Chris! Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 we bought a mk1 cortina about 5 years ago now which hadnt moved from the garage it was in for 30 years, it only has 1500 miles on the clock yes one thousand five hundred we kept it for a few years then sold it to a friend in ireland Our maroon mk1 corty had sat in a barn for 15 years before we bought it, and has only done 8000 miles from new. the red/gold mk1 gt we have was found in a garage local to us and had been there since the early 70's, not moved a muscle
escortmad79 Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I know of a 1300 Deluxe Mk2 Tina that used to do car shows & has been parked up on the owners driveway for the past couple of years, now blocked in by building sand, flat tyres etc, rotting away & they won't sell it
Durham Fiesta Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 theres a mk1 fiesta 1300s across the road from me that the bloke won't sell but has no intention of doing anything with it, probably be shagged though but i still want it
crapichris Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 my brother-in-law gave me a call to say an old girl who was a neighbour of his dad had died and when they cleared the garage out there was a 2.0S in there - was I interested? Couldn't get around the M25 fast enough. Apparently it was her sons. He lived in a less than desirable part of South London and had had it nicked several times so he moved it to his mums house and promptly lost his licence - hick! Eventaully giot it off him for £150 and spent another £200 doing it up. Was on the road for 3 years -just taken off for a proper job.
novanut64 Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 i dont have to look far to find a mk1 rs2000 thats been off the road since 1992 its in the garage at the bottom of the garden the first and only car the wife has ever bought the nova is nearly finished so i better start on the rs soon
trakevlyn Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 Mine was layed up for 13 years after its owner died then the bloke i bought it off moved in next door he was into rs's, the owners widow said "ive got one of those in the garage you can have it if you want" it had only done 9000 miles. It was then stripped resprayed and basically cleaned. I then bought it for a mear £1500. A bargain im thinking especialy as the respray cost over £1200 according to the invoice i found with the paper work that came with the car. mind you the car has still only done 24000 miles from new and those of you who have seen it know its reasonably tidy!
trakevlyn Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 Forgot to mention my old mans got a za mg magette thats been sitting in his garage for nearly 20 years no engine gear box or interior the same as the day he bought it. Its a family joke im going to inherit it with a tree growing through it.

RFChris Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 I've got a Cortina on my drive that hasn't moved for a while, does that count?
sparkycapri Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 i dragged my old red capri out of the shed a couple of weeks ago. it hasn't turned a wheel in about 8 years! it still had the camping pass for billing capri show 1999 on the dash, i think thats the last time i used it
morcheen Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 my mk1 escort van was in a garage since 1985,one owner 22k on the clock. the bloke i got it off actually drove it from stamford hill to his lock up in barnet ! all it needed for an mot was the carb cleaning out as it started to splutter and stall.old fords always start i've found loads of cars in lock ups/barns. it does seem to be an osf thing too?

novanut64 Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 nearly as long as the escort ian when i began putting it together it would have been a very quick streetcar now there are many 4pots on this site that would spank my arse
mossy Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 How can you leave that chevy there! My capri had been found in a barn for 11years...was mint as you like then went straight through an mot. My mk1 4dr ive just got has been in some blokes heated garage for 8years and is very solid.
