"nope dont like em, old skool only for me" Given the choice.. I'd rather have the "naff" DB9 than an RS1600. I'm rather boring when it comes to cars. Yes I'm an "old skool'o'holic", but I'm also a big mini fan (the older ones). I dont like the new mini- i think it looks ugly, not because it's not old skool. I've always said on posts that my 2 'dream cars' are a mk2 escy and a mini. Sad- yes. If someone offered me the choice of a ferrari or a mk2 escy- i'd take the ferrari...and flog it! Use the money to go towards a place of my own. I dont know what i'm trying to get out of posting this, but i just thought i would have my say Oh and I think my dad's mk3 fez is the b*ll*cks!!!

I like all old cars and i've got lots , the oldskoolford scene aint naff it's the best , all the other meets and shows i go to aren't a patch on them . Just because most people don't like non original colours ( pearesent orange etc ) and still run on 13 inch wheels doesn't make a scene naff does it ? Sticking ugly modern 15+ inch wheels and stupid areofoils on one does though and the people with them will say " yes but i'm being different and YOU MUST like it as well " . Well people can fit what they like for all i care but when a magazine calls a scene naff then it should get it's facts straight first and attend some meets + shows instead of polishing up their NAFF motors change the reacord it's getting boaring now WTF are you moaning about all the time . And up above in my post where did i label anyone.. old school by definition on this very sites own polls has summed up the old skool motors as being of the South London look. ... and with people like Gaz shouting on the two top old school car forums that someones car looks like a "toothpaste tube" (retroAl's Car) and someone elses engines is shit cos it a Zetec .. (countless cars) or " you've ruined it with the 15" wheels " on someones thread ... and next post from him on another thread is " Kev your cars so cool" when Kev runs 15" wheels.. With people like Gaz slating everyone all the time, no wonder the scene gets called Naff. I dont slate off the south london lookers .. i think the cars are all a credit to their owners, some of them are the best kept example on the road. Thats the difference, perhaps im wrong, but i was bought up to keep non-constructive opinions to myself

Retromotorsport Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Oh and before anyone thinks i'm on PPC's side in all this i'm not .. we had a big falling out after they did a feature on Linking a car, they used my customers car and the guys son had his pic taken holding the axle up .. with his dad and i holding the it up out of shot .. the son told all his school mates that he was going to be in the mag, when it came out he wasnt.. having the cars owner come in and say his 9 year old son was in tears because all his mates are taking the piss and calling him a liar gave me the right hump. And then to see the artickle covered in TAS motorsport logos when they dont even supply half the stuff that was used in the car and also didnt suplly any of bits they do , they came from RD really pissed me off .. Then to have that following the " build this car for 4k " using Dave Whites Gp2 racer as the car in question.. i swore i would do nothing for again. And to this day i still havnt got the book and CD of pics that lent the Ed.. even though the dep ED said he had posted them back on this very forum.. So,, as you can see i'm not a fan of PPC ... some good article in there sometimes .. but no.. i dont buy it.. or even get it

But before slating things that you dissaprove of, consider that the more you post about it on here the more you will alienate yourself from the people that do like their cars to have big wheels etc. So when you then do post up a thread that might be worthy of discussion, you've put so many peoples back up that they will come out against you even if they do agree with you. I'm with Retro in that I love the Old Skool scene as much as he does, but just because it's not a Ford does not mean it's not Old Skool it just means it's not OSF. For instance, who's brave enough to say that the Lancia Delta Integrale or the Lotus Sunbeam or the Avenger Tiger isn't Old Skool cool? Or how about the early Lotus Elan, the TR5 and 6, the Sunbeam Tiger, I'd love any one of the above cars and IMHO all have serious Old Skool street cred. As to the original Topic matter was PPC having a dig, Perhaps they were. but ultimately as a collective group do we really care and is it all that important?
