ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 I got Practical Performance Car today and was looking through the hit, miss or maybe at the back. Look at the 'Escort' entry. For: So fun, so tunable, so tailhappy Against: Naff 'old skool' scene. Sour grapes?
Admin Vista Posted June 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 22, 2007 PPC? I think I remember them doing a feature on a rolling resto of a 2.8i in the mod 90's they didn't seem to think the old skool scene was naff then.

PPC only started in 2003/4 .. and the ed has a v8 mk1 capri, dep ed has enough old school cars to fill a carpark too ..
Admin Vista Posted June 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 22, 2007 Hmmmmmmmm maybe it was Car mechanics, I remember the articles as I bought the whole series of mags specifically for them.
johnny_h Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 probably a bunch of old crusty has been fookers. fook em and their reviews.
Noodles Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 The estate was in owners car back in jan they seemed to like it
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 22, 2007 Author Report Posted June 22, 2007 There's an article about Waynes (Awsomes) anglia in it this month. I was thinking the 'sour grapes' bit because they used to have a room on here, but was closed through lack of use.
Admin Vista Posted June 22, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 22, 2007 I remember that, as I recall the lack of use went both ways. I answered one or two of his questions in threads he started (a question about superspeed escorts springs to mind) and he never followed it up.
BIG G Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 the mags not even good enough to lite me bbq who cares the bloke is prob a bit of a plank anyway
Tom Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 hmm i didn't notice that - i'll have to have a look now. still think its a good read, prob because my car was on the front cover
Rick Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 just cuz they couldnt finish their fuel injected crossflow
OllieC Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 well i dunno, i would say that OSF is defintely one of the better car 'scenes' maybe they would prefer to polisg the MG owners flat caps or something chalk off one less mag to buy
Guest MK1gaz Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 PPC mag had potential but the writers haven't got a foooooookin "danny le rue" about much , they just harp on about V8's which we all know are toilet !!!!!!!!!!
Admin Vista Posted June 23, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 23, 2007 they just harp on about V8's which we all know are toilet !!!!!!!!!! That's a pretty sweeping statement, not all V8's are big heavy American things or under powered Rover lumps. I have one that's of lightweight magnesium alloy construction, quad cam, with dry sump lubrication and in stock trim revs as high as an uprated pinto. As standard they produce some 200 + bhp from a fairly meagre 2.6 litres.
GT_Jim Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 well its their opinion, its not going to stop me buying it though
bomber1 Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 hmm i didn't notice that - i'll have to have a look now. still think its a good read, prob because my car was on the front cover thats the only time i brought there mag

Ok yes the new ones aren't bad and make more than 50 bhp a litre but the fellas in that mag have got a fetish for the overheating , overated 50 bhp a litre if your lucky sort and think thats the way it's done . Never mind they're learn one day

GT_Jim Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 that and brake per litre doesnt mean much its torque that matters
Guest MK1gaz Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 Well yes they make plenty of torque but considering the size of the blinking things they still aren't that good
