X-pack-Glyn Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Ive just spent best part of 2 hours looking for a decent exhaust for the wifes escort zetec, im looking for a quality item with full radius bends, a 2" i.d max, and a power gain between 4-8 bhp.... what do i get, 13 different styles of "burnt tip" tailpipes and "racy engine note"..WTF of course i blame the consumer, its all down the these barry boys these days wanting this complete shite on thier cars, sadly i think along the way the idea of "tuning for performance" has been lost in a world of bling and impressin yer mates.
orionmojo Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 not amongst the right circles mate try powerflow exhausts, they can knock up a custome one if you need it
Copey Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 yeah people my age really piss me off!! lol, you see a 1.1 corsa and it sounds like a half baked ferrari, just pisses me off, and all these body kits...URGH!!! just looks shit, its so awesome when some prick in a "modified" corsa or saxo pulls up and thinks "yeah i got a shit load of crap stuck to my car, and gots me an air filter and a new back box, it will beat ur shitty old car"...LOL tossers!! they dont know the first things about cars and tuning!! but yeah, it is becoming hard to find a real tuning place, that doesnt just sell MaxPower crap, halfords is just like chav central!! i dont go near it!! well, maybe when i get my new exhaust fitted, show all the pricks what a REAL car sounds like!
Admin Vista Posted July 29, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 29, 2007 Personally I reckon the death knell for the old skool tuning industry as we know it was sounded by the advent of the computer age in modern cars. As soon as you could "chip it" it seemed to me that that's about all anyone who wanted to go faster had to do to see significant gains from his/her car. Why therefore would the consumer go to the expense of a new exhaust that was properly flowed or head/cam mods that allowed better breathing when all he/she had to do was drop in an electronic gizmo to impress his Sharon/tracy passenger seat consort. So if the consumer isn't going to buy it, what kind of businessman would spend time and money developing it to sell?
Copey Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 i know a lad with a chiped 1.0 Corsa and a silly back box, sounds shit, beats mine to 20, but as soon as he has to change to 2nd he is gone, so funny, and my mate Jack thought nicks car was fast, LOL, how wrong he was, gotta love it!!
Fiesta Steve Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 The truth is, on an engine like the zetec in its orginal home, mk6 escort etc.. an exhaust system won't find any horsepower. So it just has to look good. (if your into that sort of thing)
Noodles Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Try Remus there expensive but they have a F1 history all stainless with lifetime warenty

So it just has to look good. (if your into that sort of thing) Do have to agree with Fiesta Steve car companys actually spend a bit of time on things now as this help original BHP and emissions and has to work with a fairly complex engine like the zetec, unlike the old school days when it was bolted on if it worked unless it was some sort of special edition car. The main thing holding modern cars back is engine map, cams which tie in with the map n the CAT which will stop alot of BHP, just get a cat replacement tube to get the power you want but make sure you keep the cat warm and dry for MOT time
Copey Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 just go to a breakers and get a replacement standard

deltamal Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Simpson race exhausts, based in heathrow, custom made to fit, not cheap but one of the best in the country, took all my pocket money! but worth it
Arched Escy Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 redline has changed its allegiance.in their bottom 10 things is:5" tailpipes on 1.2 cars in there whats hot/whats not section in whats hot:Cars modified to go fast spend your money on suspension and brake upgrades instead of slammin it with a big tailpipe.if youve modified your car and its no faster, youve got it wrong.
MightySprocket Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Try A.B.P. Motorsport in Shavington, Cheshire, Chris can help, he had a supercharged Focus and brings in stuff from the states (USA tune the zetec to massive bhp), I think he had a borla manifold and system on his.
Gonzo Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 www.zorstec.com do custom stainless systems and theyre quite reasonably priced. well known in the streetfighter [highly modded bikes] scene for top notch stuff and can make anything you like within reason.
