I have a N/A cossie in my new project car that i havent even started yet but i am thinking that although, hopefully it'll do 200+HP i think i may as well nip it in the bud and sell it to get a cossie turbo engine as ultimately thats what i want cos i need 300 ish HP to keep up with a friends car.

Now, do i persevere and continue with the N/A lump or try to get a turbo lump in there and ready for the Brands Retro ford mag track day???

Does anyone know of a good turbo engine for sale??

And how much do you think i could sell the N/A engine for??

I think Ebay would be the best choice??

if i was you i would keep the n/a, 200bhp is plenty in a mk1

mines only running around 200bhp as my boost has not been set to the correct level for stage 1, and i still see off plenty of cars

its a lot more hassle when you go turbo you wil need a swirls pot for the fuel, you will need to run a lot more wires ecu ect ect

I just know for sure Al that i want to scare the pants off myself when i drive it! I think around 300 BHP will do that! 200 bhp Naturally aspirated is nice but i just reckon i will get bored pretty quickly and i am annoyed that my mate has a faster car than me, although it is a 3.3 turbo porsche!!

Do you guys think i can get an engine and box for around 2K Ready to go in??

I reckon you should go for it if thats what you want mate  and you wont have problems getting an engine and box for 2k,if you manage to pick up a good engine you could get an MT 75 box, they will handle up to 300 bhp  obviously the best choice would be the T5 but just in case your money needs to stretch a little further its an option :D

Gutted if you sell it now Sambo. I was hoping you were going to keep it a couple of years, giving me time to save some pennies. Then I was going to buy it.:wink:

Nah fair to play to ya. 200HP aint a bad amount of power :ykt:

Try it you might like it

IMO, i think the N/A cossie conversion is a waste of time and money. Plus it renders ANOTHER cossie head useless for turbo application again. And for the price it costs to do it and the power you eventually get from it, it seems a false economy. All IMO ofcourse!

I would buy a cossie turbo, with a stg 1 live map. It will be more than rapid! Youll have nearly 300hp, and LOADS of torque with the right map.

You need to think about what your saying here.

A 200 bhp n/a cossie will blow the doors off a 300 bhp turbo cossie.

Get it around a track and see for yourself !!!

Sounds good to me, my rothmans escort runs a 2l zetec on 45s ( 199bhp) and thats enough to stay with some turbo'd cars with more power :)

Fiesta steves right  turbo cossies go like an old donkey on a sprint/hillclimb/circuit etc and last for 5 mins before exploding . They're fast on the motorway though if you've got a 4 mile clear stretch to keep the throttle pinned  . Without grippy drag slicks a 300bhp turbo cossie will get it's arsed spanked by a 220 bhp atmo screamer everywhere except when over 110 mph on an empty motorway  Don't do it Sambo and they sound shite !!!!!!

Thanks for that Gaz

If you decide to tune your turbo car more to keep up with the 200 bhp n/a engine, lets say 400 bhp or more, you'll then find you can't put the power down as a few lads found out at Silverstone last weekend. Thats when you wished you'd stuck with 150 bhp x-flow

I'm sure they said they were spinning the wheels in 4th gear  , lots of fun but it don't win races

Complete bollox mate,a 300bhp cossie turbo ain't even trying, thats standard

injectors,turbo,fuel pump,etc territory.

The only reason you would need to keep the throttle pinned would be high

gearing and big wheel /tyre combo,just use 13's on a 3.75 diff.

I say do it ! atmo's are for wimps (IMHO)

300bhp turbo cossie if very reliable, its when people dont get them set up right when they go pop

in fact if you read about the the cosworth engine i belive it was designed and built to make 300bhp but ford said no it was to powerfull so they restricted it (cant rember the full spec) and kept the internals like the crank

Cheers for the replys guys but i am still undecided! I hear that the Atmo cossies were the daddies at the last retro ford brands track day??

my twopennorthworth

I prefer the turbo YB....even though mines broke

Although the yellow NA Cossie mk2 Escort at FF sounded beautifull, I could never afford one.
