.........keep plugging away even though sometimes it seems like theres no light at ther end of the tunnel

 

I was sooo lucky to find a really puka mk2 a few months back,i was going to put it straight on the road with the 1600 cross flow it had but decided to go all out and go for the cossie as its what i always wanted ive got some help next weekend to finally fit my large gearbox tunnel and hopefully then it will move along a little faster

 

I have alot of money sitting in this project,the cossie engine alone is worth a fair bit not to mention lots of other stuff i have bought along the way,now my problem is,i just cant help thinking i could sell it all and buy a vrey good mk2 on the road,ok it wouldnt be cossie powered but a nice crossflow or pinto would be good.I really want my car done i just cant help thinking this way,i hate having to depend on others to help me i really appreiciate when people help me out,its so nice that people take time out of thier busy lifes to give you a hand,i just want it done yesterday and it seems never ending

Brought my mk2 shell...only needing minor welding untill the mot when the tester laughed and wouldnt even do the mot test...

 

Needs 2front floors, inner sills, wings, front panel, rear arches, scuttle panel

 

The car had been 3different colours and covered in filler everywhere...and its getting worse as im bare mettaling it!

 

Sometimes i wanna give up and buy a ready made one!

i always get off to a good start but strugle when getting to the finish as lose intrest then it seams to take ages to do last little bits im like this with all things includeing diy

Started the normal way, just a wee tidy up of my Mk1 Fiesta, freshen up the engine, get it back on the track next season. That was September 2004.

 

It's now August 2007, it's been stripped back to bare metal underneath, it's had new inner wings, new crossmember, new front panel, new wings, front floor pans, inner sills, boot floor, rear panel, n/s sill, with the just the o/s sill to go . Steel x-flow bottom ends built, waiting for it's alloy head and throttle bodies, Tran-X LSD to be fitted. Other than that, all I've got left to do is get her painted and put it all together. Doesn't sound that bad when you say it fast!

 

Surely I'll get it finished for next season!

Mate i know exactly what you mean, my engine swap ended up as a whole front end!!

 

keep at it, keep taking pictures and look back at them every now and again. you'll be surprised how far you've got when you do.

 

it'll get there mate just keep at it, you'll be chuffed to bits (and nervous as fook) when its done

Most cars i have done get built over the winter then driven in the summer,some take 2/3 years over the winters, i like to buy cars that have not been welded but need welding this way gives me more work but i dont have to remove someones crap work first, the drive to do it comes from the vision and that it seems to be in my blood & the fact i cant buy what i want!!

My car's totally solid, the leather interior is mint and it runs like a dream and yet I've still had it off the road for nearly two months. Sometimes when life is hectic just getting a few bits n pieces done can take ages. What's the saying, think of a time and double it? Anyway, I just know it'll all be worth it when I'm back behind the wheel. Just think of how rad that's going to and It'll keep you going!
