boXXer Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Just got to wait 4 weeks for it now. Was gunna build it myself, but i think this is a better thing to do. Steve was VERY helpful (as always), and told me what i needed, and didnt try to rip me off on extra bits (which i appreciate). Cheers! Mike
boXXer Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 too much! lol More to the point, who's that in your avatar?
GJUK Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 How much was that out of interest, £2k ? Nice engine, very jealous! Jon

cossieglen Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 About the same as my Harris lump then, good stuff mate, hope it's the the round ones! Out of interest, which car is it for?
Dom Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Go on the website One of the few places you can actually get online pricelist.
boXXer Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 Go on the website One of the few places you can actually get online pricelist. Its for my mk1 escort. Not put any pics up of it yet. BTW, what spec is yours gunna be? did it come with a rocker cover, etc?
cossieglen Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Full race head and cam, lightened/balanced cossie bottom end, accralite forged pistons No doesn't come with a rocker cover, will have to buy that seperately, want to get an alloy one, they tend to be less leaky that even the wide flanged steel items.
kevmk2 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I have always prefered the late wide flange type cam cover in silver, use a proper original ford gasket with the steel bits in it,dont over tighten it and it wont leak
Darran Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Have to agree with Kev,alloy ones always leak. late injection one You'll never see one on a ht or harris pinto
Joe-ashtonmobile Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Have to agree with Kev,alloy ones always leak. late injection one You'll never see one on a ht or harris pinto wat about an ashton pinto
cossieglen Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Have to agree with Kev,alloy ones always leak. late injection one You'll never see one on a ht or harris pinto Good point there Darran, ok mate, how much do you want?
ratman Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Have to agree with Kev,alloy ones always leak. I used my burton alloy rocker cover for 15 years and its never leaked you just need to know how to fit them I dow corning one edge to the cover face and hay presto no leakie
sambo Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Exactly what i did Ratman with my burton rocker cover!! Smear some sealant to hold the gasket in place and its all good.!
4parajon Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I hope your missus is'nt hoping to hang the washing out today then
cossieglen Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Interesting, however I think I'm going to go for a steel wide flanged one, and paint it blue, as it is a Harris engine I'm building after all
Noodles Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I asked a while back about some small seals that you get in a gaskey set, looking at the manual they tell you to use these in the two front holes on the rocker cover? weired
petrolhead Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 They are rebuilding my megajolted crossflow at the moment as well. I'm also going for forged pistons and am hoping for 140-150bhp once it is properly set up. I've got to say I'm impressed with Steve and Tom at Vulcan, they are down-to-the-earth, no BS engineers. Steve has given me loads of good advice so hopefully your engine (and mine) will be stonking!
boXXer Posted August 24, 2007 Author Report Posted August 24, 2007 yeah ive had a x flow head off him before, and he refurbed my cossie head. So never had any bad dealings with them.
Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Interesting, however I think I'm going to go for a steel wide flanged one, and paint it blue, as it is a Harris engine I'm building after all . Jeff Harris..
