Ordered my Vulcan 185 spec engine today....

Was gunna build it myself, but i think this is a better thing to do.

 

Steve was VERY helpful (as always), and told me what i needed, and didnt try to rip me off on extra bits (which i appreciate).

BTW, what spec is yours gunna be? did it come with a rocker cover, etc?

Full race head and cam, lightened/balanced cossie bottom end, accralite forged pistons

 

No doesn't come with a rocker cover, will have to buy that seperately, want to get an alloy one, they tend to be less leaky that even the wide flanged steel items.

I have always prefered the late wide flange type cam cover in silver,use a proper original ford gasket with the steel bits in it,dont over tighten it and it wont leak

I used my burton alloy rocker cover for 15 years and its never leaked

you just need to know how to fit them

 

I dow corning one edge to the cover face and hay presto no leakie

Exactly what i did Ratman with my burton rocker cover!! Smear some sealant to hold the gasket in place and its all good.!

Interesting, however I think I'm going to go for a steel wide flanged one, and paint it blue, as it is a Harris engine I'm building after all

I asked a while back about some small seals that you get in a gaskey set, looking at the manual they tell you to use these in the two front holes on the rocker cover? weired

They are rebuilding my megajolted crossflow at the moment as well. I'm also going for forged pistons and am hoping for 140-150bhp once it is properly set up. I've got to say I'm impressed with Steve and Tom at Vulcan, they are down-to-the-earth, no BS engineers. Steve has given me loads of good advice so hopefully your engine (and mine) will be stonking!

yeah ive had a x flow head off him before, and he refurbed my cossie head. So never had any bad dealings with them.
