Pinto, no doubt...

appart from the weight issue theres not a lot to be gained fron going all modern i dont think.

the pinto can still knock out very sensible power figuires, its a more proven engine than any of the rest will ever be, as more people go multivalve, more and more tuning parts are out there for the pinto...

i would say pinto as i find them easier to work on. :D

I can't see how Pinto and XE can even be mentioned in the same argument? Sure if you said zetec Vs xe, but I'm afraid the pinto would get it's arse handed to it on weight, power, tunability.

 

I love the lump of iron that is the pinto - but it's not going to win over a DOHC, in my opinion at least.

How about something odd ball like dare i say it a bike engine bit off a bugger to fit but they are light and make good power and are tuneable as hell suzuki haybusa makes according to performace bikes magazine 157bhp 95.19lb-ft @ wheel and you can turbo them and they easily make 500bhp. Outside the box i know but worth a passing thought.
